any idea when is s100 launching??

seem that the stores are trying to clear off s95...it was about 669 last year dec..now its going for 549 - 599!! pretty good deal if one aint into the latest gimzo...

the past comex had dropped til $599 with freebies.

I bought mine in sept :D

but think will still consider to upgrade? maybe when s100 is out? if the appearance of the silver (or probably should say browns color) one is nice, i will probably get it.

Pity S100 retains the 5cm minimum focusing distance, I want G13, I dun care if its called G12_Omega instead. Because its 1cm (or hopefully smaller) focusing distance is essential to underwater macro shots.

G9 gallery

This gallery uses G9, but it is still capable of 1cm focusing distance.
Some creatures like nudis, coral, anemones, baby:)D I saw in Manado, Sedona housereef!!!) clownfish won't run away, while pgymy seahorse, scorpionfish, rockfish, shrimps, crabs etc can also be captured up close if you're careful and skilful.
To shoot the really skittish creatures, G12 will also allow a more closeup zoom than S95 while maintaining focus.

You will never be able to get such clear sharp close ups with S95's 5cm without resorting to some very specialized lenses which I forgot the name of.

Picture taken with the S100 without flash under decent lighting.

All my life, I have either used DSLRs or half-ar$ed compact cameras (the kind given away as freebies).

The S100 is really a good substitute for my DSLR when I need to lose the weight.

Compared to the half-baked compact cameras I used previously, the S100 is really a far cry and a joy to use. The images obtained are fantastic.

Perhaps the S95 is as capable at delivering excellent pictures, but I would be unable to comment as I have never used an S95 or equivalent.

I made the jump from meh-type compacts directly to the S100 by paying US$429.99 (before 8% tax), a jaw-dropping amount by my standards. And I am glad I did.
