If you overpay your monthly instalments, no problem - it will just carry over. If you overpay the entire year's allotment, they will call you up and tell you you overpaid.

What happens if they call you telling you overpaid? They do a refund by cheque?

i read some story in forum if i am not wrong that IRAS called in after someone overpaid by 10x of the amount in order to get miles, dont know true or not

That story wasn't about Iras. It was singtel. Someone overpaid $10k just to get 4 mpd...

I'm also keen to know what happens when one overpays and there's a $10k credit balance with Iras.

They call you and warn you not to overpay as they have to do the admin work of processing a cheque. Unless you tell them you expect higher tax this year.

Cardup just completed payment of my insurance premium. The insurance company told me need to verify my credit card details. How come when using cardup to pay, it is reflected as a credit card transaction rather than a "bank transfer" transaction?

Anyone with similiar experience?

Hmm, I was under the impression that it works this way:

Me -> credit card payment to cardup -> cardup bank transfer to insurance company

So the credit card transaction is on my side only.

What i mean is that the insurance company should only see the transaction as a bank transfer rather than a credit card transaction? Any kind of credit card transaction is only between me and cardup.

I was also queried by insurer to establish if I actually made such a payment to my policy.

I was also asked to provide the payment info ... I suppose to proof that it was not paid by someone else to my policy by mistake.

It seems insurer may not be familiar yet with CardUp as a payer or a different payer from usual could have triggered a review.

Maybe CardUp need to provide payer identifier (like NRIC) so that insurers are certain there is no mistake.

TM for my case. As far as i know, prudential also processed without any hiccups.
