As I suspected, all these changes due to IRAS kpkb

I thought so too actually.

I wonder if they are really public servants or public masters ?

We don’t get such problems with other private sector firms/merchants or even other stat boards.

Are the system process not robust enough to handle slightly more complex transactions ? I am confused.

They sent email

Sent from Xiaomi MI MAX using GAGT

strange .. I did not receive any email from Cardup. Maybe it's because I do not have any scheduled tax payment with Cardup recently. But their FAQ on tax payment have been updated to reflect what is stated in the email. Check their website.

I think if we dilligently use Cardup to pay IRAS the amount as per our GIRO plan, this would have gone on for a longer time. For example the IRAS GIRO plan is $1,000 per month. You use CardUp to pay $700 only and expect IRAS to collect only $300. Next month, you decide to CardUp $800 and expect IRAS to deduct only $200. This is extra work to IRAS Finance dept as they have to modify the GIRO deduction instructions to the banks every month. Can you imagine the amount of work needed if hundreds of us are using CardUp this way.

I suspect not so much IRAS kpkb, but ignorant Sinkies performing the Cardup transaction late and kena deducted the GIRO, and then kp to IRAS to ask for refund. Suddenly, more work for IRAS. Investigate and found out that this Cardup transaction is causing issue, thus the remedial action imposed on Cardup.

Who knows, they may change policy to bar 3rd party payments in the future.

I think more of people overpaying to get rebates. They cannot leave overpayments for next tax season unless explicitly told to do so. They must refund which is more work for them. Nobody does this for axs already cos no rebates for axs payment

this is exactly what killed all the other previous credit cards for paying IRAS taxes becos there'a always ppl who will try to overpay to get the cheque refunds from IRAS. The cheque refunds are a huge overhead for IRAS, hence usually they will force the banks to stop their rebates for tax payments.

I was at their website under tax payment. I don't seems to see it

go to FAQ bottom right. Click on all these links to read the explanation. It is very similar to what was written in the email. Just that at the FAQ session, they break it down.

How do CardUp tax payments work?
Is it safe to use CardUp for my taxes?
Is CardUp a tax agent?
Can CardUp payments replace my existing GIRO payments?
Can I pay via instalments?
How do I know my payment has been received?

I haven’t received any emails and my scheduled IRAS payments are still valid in my CardUp account. Not sure if they will still go through.

I believe CU will only inform you on the Payment Date that Payment did not go through for XXX reason ... not before
