To be fair, they are winning most battles but losing the war.

They lost because of the lack of support at home. Russia, and thus Vietnam, played the 6th column perfectly, causing a loss of moral support and ground support for the fighting in Vietnam.

This is why China is so hot on wolf diplomacy. They need to sound fierce to maintain the nationalistic fervour on the ground at home. If they fail to do so, the anger and frustration from the loss of economic prosperity and domestic freedoms will rebound on the f**king old s**ts in the CCP.

The USA learnt its lesson. They know they need the moral high ground to justify to their own people of the need to support Ukraine, even if it's just logistically. Through the inclusion of other countries, especially their NATO allies, they are able to create the moral justification for the support of Ukraine.

there are over 750 U.S. bases in some 80 countries and colonies around the world of which 313 U.S. military base sites in East Asia alone. in comparison, China has about eight foreign military bases — one in Djibouti and some on human-made islands in the South China Sea.

I think if a war broke out, many will be shocked by how devastatingly good the PLA has become. It will be like when Japan defeated Russia in the Russo Japanese war. Nobody thought an Asian power could defeat a European power. But more so than just win a war, China will completely overwhelm its enemy.
