Nice,... thanks for the input. I'm just planning my ITX build and will start looking out for SSD and RAM online which is why I'm asking.

Another one is the Sabrent Rocket 2tb not the gen4. Have to wait for amazon low price.

I will avoid ADATA SSD as I have bad experience with their SSD.

My ADATA SSD got bad sectors that caused my computer to have blue screen of death. After RMA, I still encountered the blue screen of death.

The problem was totally resolved after I changed to WD SSD.

The 1TB is only $169 but the seller is new,.. another scam?

Found it on Amazon US for S$189.77
It's 1TB but might be worth grabbing since the cost in shops here is about $350!

I read from Amazon reviews that this model of SSD can run very hot. Have you monitored the temperature on your SSDs before?

I just checked my system and below is what I'm seeing: -

1. Gigabyte Aorus 1TB MVNe Gen 4 - 52C
2. LITEON 256GB SATA SSD - 50C
3. WD 6TB Mechanical HDD - 35C

Just want to check in with people here if the NVMe is running too hot or not. Was considering removing the big heatsink and using the motherboard heatsink but it will void the warranty which is why I've not done it.

Hey Koenig168, thanks for the info. Do you know if ssd bought on amazon.sg that was shipped from amazon us has local warranty too? I looked around hwz, and found different info. Can they be RMA locally or have to ship overseas in case there's any issue?

WD does not have international warranty. However, if you buy a WD SSD from Amazon SG and shipped by Amazon US, you can contact WD customer service and they will usually make an exception to allow the RMA in Singapore. I've done this before for HDD bought from Amazon US.

Works as well as one can expect. What is to me the clincher is that WD (And Seagate) honors RMA for non-SG drives in Singapore, unlike other brands line Crucial/ Micron, Samsung, etc where you probably have to ship it out to the country of purchase or Manufacture out of your own pocket since their local distributors will likely not accept them. Also, 600TBW rating (for 1TB) and a 5 year warranty doesn't hurt at all!

Plus, it is even more highly rated than the Samsung 970 Evo (non plus version). Reviews have mentioned that it consumes more power than average on idle, and thus not so good for battery life. Eh..lets face it. This either goes into a gaming machine or a desktop, battery life should be of little concern since they will mostly be plugged in anyway.

All the above, makes the asking price of less than S$180 (non heat sink, around Black Friday 2019) well worth it and a no brainer if you are in the market for a performance drive at a great value, especially so when it is marked down

Ran test on my 3 drives and interesting stats so might as well share,...

I am assuming that because Noirkw was running RAID across 2 drives his stats should be half if comparing to a single drive. So there is a fair bit of speed advantage when using Gen4 NVMe.

SSD only run hot when there is data transfer. You can always reduce the link speed if you don't want so hot.

The random read/write numbers seem a little off. Should be better since you are running Raid0.

I'll hold off and monitor for now. Ideally I'd like a 2TB this time for the ITX build but lets see how things pan out. Does not need to be Gen4 this time tho.

The max transfer speed of 4x PCI-E 3.0 is 3840MB/s. The total number of PCI-E lanes from a CPU is limited, and the system and chipset will resort to sharing.
