Personally I run 2 x 2 TB WD Black SN750 in RAID0 as my gaming drive

The random read/write numbers seem a little off. Should be better since you are running Raid0.

For comparison, single SX8200 Pro

Definitely kinda off, my single WD SN750 500gb random read actually perform better except for RND4K Q1T1 write. Understand 1TB/2TB version should have better performance.

Actually for gaming rig why need to run raid 0 unless there is a need to move large files frequently, in most case, single nvme speed is good enough.

The max transfer speed of 4x PCI-E 3.0 is 3840MB/s. The total number of PCI-E lanes from a CPU is limited, and the system and chipset will resort to sharing.

I see, so somehow it impact the random read/write but not the Seq one as they looks fine to me...

I read from Amazon reviews that this model of SSD can run very hot. Have you monitored the temperature on your SSDs before?

Ran test on my 3 drives and interesting stats so might as well share,...

I am assuming that because Noirkw was running RAID across 2 drives his stats should be half if comparing to a single drive. So there is a fair bit of speed advantage when using Gen4 NVMe.

No clue either TBH - but maybe because I am running both drives on the M2/M3 slots. When I was deciding to raid awhile ago, i did notice that issue.

However, Raid0 on NVMe is pretty useless in most cases - I do it just to have it act as a "single" drive for easier organization

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking of looking at Sabrent too.

Back to the WD I saw earlier,.. the price jumped up to S$210.86 now so it was a good price that popped up earlier!

Is the Sabrent 2TB single or double sided? I recently bought a Samsung 981a 2TB which should be a 970 Evo Plus 2TB OEM model and found that it’s single sided. Quite surprised 2TB can fit on a single sided m.2 2280.

Morning All,...

There appears to be a lot of movement on 1TB NVMe SSD with the latest being a
Gigabyte NVMe 1.3/M.2/PCIe 3.0x4/ 1TB SSD (GP-GSM2NE3100TNTD) listed for S$168.68 by Amazon US.

The 2TB models are all sky high at this point with the cheapest being a WD Blue coming in at S$323.32. WD Black is just stupid money right now at close to $600!

Currently using the Intel 660p 2TB that I bought last year for around $250 SGD on Amazon. Works fine, speeds are "only" 1800MB/s but can't beat that for the price and Intel has worldwide warranty.

Never really saw the need for PCIe Gen 4, not that my B450 even supports it. And QLC vs TLC NAND reliability is way overblown. I have never seen my SSD drop to HDD speeds.

Prices are damn high now for some reason. Cheapest ones I can find on Amazon are around $250 USD.

Yes I would wait for a price of S$190 or below before purchasing. Be extra careful when purchasing from Amazon and make sure that the seller is actually Amazon US or Amazon SG and not some scammer which a lot of what your seeing is. It was listed by Amazon US for $189 when but hours later was raised to the current price of S$210.86

I'm not in any hurry either as I want to review the new ITX motherboards that are due out on the 16th of June before deciding on Ryzen vs Intel ITX build.

Yea, thanks for the heads up. May I ask why wait for B550 to come out before deciding to go with Intel or AMD? Price?

Would like to see if there are any new X570, evaluate the B550's (best of B550's) and compare Intel as an alternative (10900K).

My requirement is to have a USB-C header on the ITX motherboard which the current x570's do not have, the B550's and Intel ITX motherboards seems to address this requirement. Since this will be an ITX build I would have liked to throw in a 2TB NVMe SSD but prices are a bit on the high side. My plan is to build using the NZXT H1 which is completely out of stock too so waiting for that to be available so no real hurry.

IF I do come across a blinding deal on the 1TB NVMe SSD I will probably just get one for now and upgrade later down the road to a 2TB. The ITX motherboard should be able to handle 2 NVMe SSD's anyway so there is always room to upgrade.

I am also looking for a 32GB 3600MHz RAM kit for the next build. The catch there is that I need low profile RAM as the clearance for the water cooler is very limited so ideally looking at the Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz which are currently priced at $309!

I will avoid ADATA SSD as I have bad experience with their SSD.

My ADATA SSD got bad sectors that caused my computer to have blue screen of death. After RMA, I still encountered the blue screen of death.

The problem was totally resolved after I changed to WD SSD.

it’s normal for Raid0 drives to have lower random read writes compared to single drive.
