if i not wrong, b550 boards also can support 1gen 4 ssd if using as boot drive... for new rig builders should go for gen 4 ssd ba for future proofing if cost isn't a concern?
I am not sure if its going to be future proof to go for PCI-E 4.0 SSDs. Future proof means one should be able to realize the untapped potential over time. But the truth is, it really depends on an individuals' usage. For most peoples' usage, they can't tell if they are using a SATA3 or NVME SSD in the first place in their normal day to day usage. The premium over PCI-E 3.0 SSD is also quite steep at this point.
