Will NAND Flash prices cause our NVMe SSD price to shoot up or down for Q1/2 2021?
The Samsung 970 Evo Plus shot up $100+ already.

Is this legit? ships from amazon but sold by Store4pcSG anyone brought from this store before?

Thanks
I just bought 1 myself, from the review seem legit. This store is also front by Nexark Inc the same as US amazon store.

In the event, if it is fake there is a 15days return policy from amazon.

Speed is almost unnoticeable for gaming wise, maybe for some who are saving a ton of datas in 1 go. Else, the most noticeable is probly the temp from the gen3 to gen4 ba

depends on what u are using it for. for the average person, a 500mbps sata drive has no difference in experience as a 5000mbps top of the line drive.

If you have 2 nvme slots, better to buy 2x 500GB. For the same price you get double the windows performance

Double drive:

the most important performance metric for windows/daily usage is random 4k q1t1. improvement from 39 to 44mbps is really not worth the effort of raiding and increase risk of data loss.

No difference if you are looking at loading speed. If you are constantly transferring huge files, then yes assuming the drive is sufficiently cooled to avoid thermal throttling. PCI-E 4.0 drives run very hot.

up, market has bottomed and going back up

I doubt NAND has hit the bottom considering the demand is fairly weak and projected to remain weak amidst the soft economic conditions now. It may have rebound due to higher demand over the festive seasons, but not going to sustain its run in my opinion.

Only news that may increase prices of SSD somewhat will be this,
https://www.techpowerup.com/276340/...capacity-for-foundry-services-says-trendforce

But then again, the controller is not a costly piece of component in a SSD. So even with the increase, technically it should not result in any significant increase in SSD prices. Unless of course SSD manufacturers want to use the opportunity to try and bump prices up substantially.

I would prefer this video instead. Numbers are easier to tell than the users trying there.

Benchmark with numbers also shows little improvement in game loading time. The main difference is transferring of BIG files. Game developers haven't make full use of the SSD speeds found in the latest generation of consoles or PC SSD. The technology isn't out there yet but soon. The loading times often depend more on CPU/GPU.

But I would still recommend getting Gen 4 over Gen 3 if you are using x570 motherboard which can fully utilise the fast speed of Gen 4. Use these as your boot drive.

1TB would suffice if you have other SSD as storage. 2TB if you do not have other SSD as storage. Above 2TB are too costly for TB/$. HDD is only for archiving old stuff.

Anyway if one is looking out for a high capacity external USB Type C SSD, this is a very good deal.

Look up for "Helix Dura 2TB USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen2) NVMe Portable SSD" on Amazon SG.

I think to consider PCI-E 4.0 SSD, the prices still needs to be lower. As it stands now, the premium from stepping up to a PCI-e 4.0 SSD is still quite steep. Typical 1TB PCI-E 4.0 NVME SSD is around SGD 230 on Amazon/ Shopee (after discount), while the cheapest 1TB PCI-E 3.0 SSD can go down to SGD 130 (after discount) on Lazada. That is a substantial difference and will be a waste if the user is not able to tap on the higher sequential transfer rate.

i just reccomend the cheapest dram ssd with a known brand. u will never be able to notice the difference anyway
while the hw unbox video has numbers, ltt video puts into perspective how little it means, when people using all 3 types of ssd cannot feel the difference

if i not wrong, b550 boards also can support 1gen 4 ssd if using as boot drive... for new rig builders should go for gen 4 ssd ba for future proofing if cost isn't a concern?

Even if cost not a concern you must be weary of heat. Depends on your motherboard setup not sure if heatsinks are doable.
