Based on various reviews, the screen is so-so. The last review I read said it's like an oversized android phone. Novo 8 will have better screen:)

novo 8 got lines behind on the screen , obvious is you tilte it an angle under the lights.

the icons and fonts are small because the resolution high....

must download hd apps so it will not blur for some games

any root guide?

if it is android 2.3 above, rooting is very hard ......so far my side failed for all my other 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 2.3.3 tab...

only 2.2 easy...

so pple asked what is root for, it is not for free apps... it is for installing apps that required root access (admin rights) eg. battery calibration, density, overclock etc..

i hope so too, tho they mentioned warranty is only 3 months.

having played with it for a few hours, one of the main gripes is the buttons (menu, home etc) on the side that arent responsive as i'd like them to be. response is also slightly slow as compared to the ipad when typing..

i wonder if anything can be done. hmm.

the buttons on the side is more of touch sensor like those old time LG cookie phone...

cannot remember if it is light sensor or touch sensor. The correct way of using it is touch totally then let go, wait half a sec for the screen to respond.

but if you touch on the actual screen, it should be responsive unless this model is copy version or some rejected sets leak out from the factory i guess.

Ainol is good with their good housing design in novo 8 but for novo 7, i not sure as i am not suppose to get near the counter hahahah..

Not hard for Novo 7A (2.3.4), a couple of guys rooted it after having the tablet for a few hours.

You should try read around various forums, there's a easy way to root 2.3.x:D

meanwhile i have hit a problem, i can connect to my wifi at home but for some weird reason cannot connect to my wifi share on my iphone. urgh this is really bad as that was my plan for the novo7 to surf outside with the iphone's wireless AP.

gonna get the novo8 advanced from IMM today~ :D

Try make sure it's the advanced version. To my knowledge the main difference is better battery, but hard to tell also with packaging the same as standard version. Better read up on Chinese sites how to tell the difference:D

Don't worry about the quadrant test, that's not important. Anyway a few users had already posted on various forums, if anyone need can try google it up. I recall posting it yesterday too.

Can't help u with iphone stuffs as I don't own any apple products=:p But I do believe some functions aren't working yet and need firmware update.

It's one of those thing about China tablets, it doesn't work as well as you like out of box. Need some DIY or wait for people to fix it. That's why it's important to have a good community.:D

Ahhh .... 3 months wrty. Anyway, it's still a good buy with a small risk of reduced wrty. If those Novo7A out in SLS b4 offer at Merimobiles, like u I wld hv bot one there too. Njoy... have u rooted it yet? Btw, there's a new firmware update from Ainol coming out on 25 Oct. Hope it's true.

Cheers

I upgraded it to 1.6T and it looks like its rooted already, downloaded root explorer and I can chmod the system files etc.

the lack of connectivity to ad-hoc networks is really still a pain :(

Have to mod the wpa_supplicant.conf I guess. Or you try google how to tether android tablet with iphone. Maybe the answer is a search away:D

yep, tried the wpa_supplicant fix from a A500? forum but it wouldn't work. Wifi went wonky, and kept turning on and off automatically..

The search continues! zzz

edit? also realised can't get the device manager still shows the ! mark. tried downloding a couple of usb drivers but it still won't work :(

I took quite a while to get adhoc wifi to on my herotab. Did you save the conf file properly? It gets replaced automatically everytime I use it. So I must make the change every time before use. It must be the first entry too.

Sample:
Code:
ctrl_interface=DIR=/data/system/wpa_supplicant GROUP=wifi
update_config=1
ap_scan=2

network={
	ssid="WifiName"
	scan_ssid=1
	key_mgmt=NONE
	wep_key0="..."
	priority=1
	mode=1
}
For some reason, line 3 disappears every time I use it.
Works with Joikuspot via my E6, WEP 64-Bit ASCII.

mate, i will suggest you try to if "factory reset" works for your tab first before trying the rest.

If it cannot boot then go straight away go back to change a new set since under warranty.

Or just called their office number on receipt and ask how to link to iphone la..

i read a few forums apparently thats the case with some androids, that it doesn't support adhoc networks till a later version of firmware comes out :(
