I upgraded it to 1.6T and it looks like its rooted already, downloaded root explorer and I can chmod the system files etc.

the lack of connectivity to ad-hoc networks is really still a pain :(
Iphone native hotspot tethering won't work. You'll have to install pdanet..

no la.. it is about the make of the internal wifi card chipset la.....my prototypes so far ok...even the 2.2 is fine...
Do you know that Android does not officially support adhoc wireless mode?

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=82

It has nothing to do with the chipset. If you understand how the 802.11 media access layer works, you will know that supporting infrastructure mode would also be supporting adhoc mode. A device that can work like a normal WiFi device will work in adhoc mode too but the software must support it.

Google purposely left out this feature so without hacking the config file, the tablet will not work with adhoc wireless networks. Are you sure you know what you're talking about? Not all wireless tethering is adhoc - some are actually operating at Infrastructure mode. If you can get your prototypes to connect to adhoc networks out of the box without hacking the config file, please share the details.

I am also using free postage :D, it took forever to process (it's been 5days and not it's not shipped out yet)

anyway, my tracking no. for the screen protector looks weird
eg. : ABC123456
Shouldn't there be CN behind it? :s11:

Me too. Ordered on 18th, now still not sent out yet... :(

Those whose tablets not send out yet can look at bright side. It means merimobiles does have lots of orders, less likely to go missing like those smaller online sites:D

Reminder, best record your unboxing just incase the tablet is faulty on arrival. I know they will test before sending out, but delievery hard to say:s8:

I'm only keen to "how know it can be done" (not "see it in action"). If you have no idea "why" your tablet is able to do this without hacking, it's ok, I'll treat it as magic. Not that I don't believe you, just that my objective is to learn how to do it.

Also, not that I doubt your technical competency, but seriously, are you sure your hotspot is operating at adhoc mode or the normal infrastructure mode? That is the whole point here.

It is NOT about: Can iPhone share Internet with your tablet?

But it is about: Can your device work with ad hoc wireless networks?

Do you see the difference? Ad hoc wireless networks. Do you know what this means? Are you sure your iPhone shares Internet using ad hoc mode or infrastructure mode?

See here: http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/fir...ck-settings-and-the-personal-hotspot-feature/

We can now confirm that the Personal Hotspot is NOT using ad-hoc mode. It appears as a standard Wi-Fi when I am trying to search it with my Mac. That means it’s using infrastructure mode like Android 2.2 devices. Other devices which don’t support ad-hoc mode, like HTC Mozart with Windows Phone 7, can now connect to the iPhone Hotspot.
So, if your iPhone is NOT using adhoc mode, and your tablet can connect to it, then what is the surprise? Nevermind if you still don't understand. You might wanna install this on your tablet and verify what mode it is connected to.

Erm I don't Think PDAnet works for android. I was window shopping for Xoom, Sony tablet and I tried to see if it can find my wireless network using PDAnet, both couldn't find my network. My iPhone still with os4.

However iPad 2 works with PDAnet coz I'm using an ipad2 to reply this now hooked up to my iPhone...

Recieved my Novo 7 Advance just now at 5pm (Sunday)

Well packed. The tablet came on standby mode, everything seems fine, except the casing was slightly popped out. A press and click the casing is all good again.

Wifi connection distant isn't good, so might need to look at a usb wifi adapter.

The device has a nice build and the device is snappy. The side touchscreen is a little less responsive, but it should get better after usuage. My pouch for it didn't come yet, but went Daiso and bought a temp A5 pouch for it.

Screen resolution is normal, but screen looks ok to me. Especially good if you pay below S$200 for it:D

Screen protect I may just use Daiso one if I bother cutting it to try:s13:

There was a nice carrying case + screen protector post on another thread. I'm enquiring if it's still open. Looks good, perhaps you might be interested too. :s13:

Seasoncrystal bro, welcome to the club :D

Azure bro, should be 1.5.1 since the current 1.6 is still non-official. But the final should be coming soon with a proper full marketplace & enhanced compatibility for gameloft (ahem) games..

There's a video currently demonstrating the basic version running honeycomb : http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMzE1MDE2MzAw.html

1.5.1 Trying to play with the root and install market while draining away the battery for 1st charge.

After 1st charge then I upgrade to 1.6T:D
