My tour guide told me to expect 3 to 7 degrees in the morning...so must pack something warm.:D

That's right. It is not unknown for Chiangmai to be lower than 10 degrees during a cold spell. Happened last year and the year before.

i know that's entirely possible in mountain areas but chiangmai city, serious?

was in soppong (Oct) many years ago, the morning was very chilly!

Nearby your hotel is the new MAYA shopping center. If your stay in CM is over the weekend, definitely do not miss out the Sunday walking street. That's the best night market of whole Thailand, at least to me. :D

Super big night market; I still cannot cover everything in 4 hours. It is very nice~

A Singaporean Businessman name Mr Tan contributed this Big Bell at Doi Suthep for 100,000 THB in year 2000.

Now to contribute a smiliar bell will cause 600,000THB.:D
