Windows a lot of bloat, especially 11.

You have virtualization based security enabled? it's on by default if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, memory integrity is by default enabled for Windows 11 on most systems.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/core-isolation-e30ed737-17d8-42f3-a2a9-87521df09b78

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ualization-based-protection-of-code-integrity
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/device-experiences/oem-vbs

Memory integrity is a Virtualization-based security (VBS) feature available in Windows. Memory integrity and VBS improve the threat model of Windows and provide stronger protections against malware trying to exploit the Windows kernel. VBS uses the Windows hypervisor to create an isolated virtual environment that becomes the root of trust of the OS that assumes the kernel can be compromised. Memory integrity is a critical component that protects and hardens Windows by running kernel mode code integrity within the isolated virtual environment of VBS. Memory integrity also restricts kernel memory allocations that could be used to compromise the system.

But I am not so sure if that is the reason for slower network speed though.

If you have 3rd party Anti Virus application installed, that may well slow down the system performance. For the typical corporate PC, then it may be even worse with all kinds of monitorning software.

If you use Windows Defender (part of Windows built-in security features), that will still slow the system down, probably to a less extent than 3rd party ones.

On the other hand, usually Windows is faster for wireless connection than Linux, because of better drivers. This is especially true if you have wireless adapters from RealTek.

just tested on both OS, seems like ubuntu always faster. those underlying tcp optimization is slight difference (by default). Any expert on this ? I have those dedicated links between countries but even a lot of sessions, not able to fill up :s34:

This one is speedtest to CT. Not the lowest latency for sure but good compromised for money spend to subscribe to such connection :s13:

Very good results already.

Singtel to China Telecom idle latency already > 300ms.

Hi @xiaofan I was looking at your Feb 2024 charts and I was wondering if you have any updated charts, and could you kindly explain to me if MR Gamer means any high republic gaming plan such as the Gamer 3Gpps and Gamer 10GGbps, or would the HyperSpeed 10Gbps work as well?

I don't know why but taobao on my browser is super slow, the mobile app works great. I'm currently on viewqwest 1Gbps with fixed ip, without freedom dns, and have been a long time viewqwest customer because their CS doesn't treat me like a noob and their CS can answer simple technical questions.

But these few years I need decent connectivity to chinese services as well, so maybe I should just look for another provider, and I happened to see this thread. It would be great if you could provide some insight.

Sorry no updated chart.

You may want to ask in the MR thread to see if there are any changes.

I tend to believe MR 3Gbps Gamer or 10Gbps Gamer plan is still the way to go if you need good connection to China, not the normal MR 3Gbps/10Gbps plan.

Not much change from my Singtel side -- Singtel 5Gbps plan, 115.66.22x.xxx IPv4 address.

Testing from my main OpenWRT virtual router (Intel N100 mini PC running Proxmox PVE 8.2)

Very good latency and Speed to China Unicom SpeedTest servers.
