Do u guys turn off the power of chromecast at night or when not using it? Once mine turned off, next morning cannot get connected to Internet. Anyone faces similar problem?

Also wondering how much power it is drawing when on the home screen but not playing any show. TV is off but not the chromecast.

I didn't bother to power off. The switch is hard to reach in my setup.

Will disconnecting the usb cable the same as powering off or is the adapter still drawing power even if the USB cable is not connected to the chromecast ?

Can look at the Android TV by google. I seem to recall that it might work

Hi all, i am using a LG WEBOS TV 55ub850t and Sharp LED TV LC32LE155M .
I am thinking of getting chromecast / chromecast with google tv.

Main purpose is to be able to watch disney+, singtel cast(EPL/Nick Jr) , mewatch( live tv channel 8/5/CNA) , netflix. And to be able to cast app or stream from an iPhone or ipad.

I dont mind chromecast with google tv(US SET) but its not launch in SG, i am concern if there is limitation in apps or i will run into support issues.

Chromecast without TV its merely casting app from phone, i am concern about the lag and quality of picture.

any suggestion or advice which could be more suitable and reliable?
thanks in advance.

For chromecast with google tv, most apps you mentioned are supported but iirc mewatch is not available though. Many other apps are also available but it is the contents that are not supported. The device still works, just that services based in US not access. Maybe need VPN, something that I didn't explore.

Casting to plain chromecast also works well. Mine is a 1st gen and only "issue" that I have is the loading time when initiating the casting is slightly long, up to a min or so.

Not sure if you can cast from Apple pdts though

MeWach has been available for Android TV OS for a while.

Interestingly I still use my 1st Gen Chromecast as well occasionally even though I have Mi Box S.

Android TV OS has the built-in Chromecast function and it does work with Apple devices like iPhone or iPad.

I didnt know that meWatch is not supported. Isit because it is US export set? Do you mean services based in US unable to access? Disney+ should work right?

I would also like to ask if chromecast with google tv allow pairing of bluetooth ear buds. My objective is to use ear buds for audio when watching the shows instead of using the TV audio. Thanks

I have gotten the chromecast with google TV. Used it for 1 day and is happy with it. When i pressed the power off button in the remote, my TV turn off. Does it mean that chromecast is also power off? Or do i need to do anything to turn it off before i switch off the power supply?

i would prefer to turn it off. But i can’t find a instruction on how to turn it off after it is paired to TV control.

When u off the remote, your Google chrome TV is still on.

I think cannot turn off, or rather might be cumbersome to do so. Normally I power off it. But next day turn on, the WiFi is disconnected. Had to restart and wait for connection. Hence end up also never turn off liao. But in any case mine put in cold storage after I bought a smart Tv

Yes the wifi will be disconnected after you turn it off via power supply. When it gets turn on again, theres a slight delay to get it connected. But imo is still alot faster then you wait for a set top box to load.

I on and off the device everyday. no problem connecting to wifi when it is booting up.
I am assuming that you turn it off via power supply.

i think unless we unpair the Chromecast remote with the TV,( meaning remote no longer control the TV) we cannot use it to turn off chromecast before power it off.

i am just thinking if i power on/off via power supply without switching it off first would shorten the lifespan of the device.

Just a thought, usually we switch off devices like TV,soundbar, laptop/PC, set top boxes before we power it off via the power supply. Except for modem, we just power it off.
