Best fit i duno. Probably a good ear impression and pray the ciem manufacturer will do it almost the same as ur impression.

I save long time to hoot. Still a poor student. Break my bank just to hoot the 8a

Me me me, I'm interested in getting a CIEM... cos, it was unfortunate that my TF10 reshelled customs had its left bass broken yesterday... Totally no bass on the left channel. So the soundstage is skewed to the right on my reshelled customs now.

I am looking at CIEMs with 600~700 budget. Will try not to hit 1k... though JH is tempting. For now, UM 3DD looks interesting. Any other recommendations???

intending to hoot for customs next cos so far i cant find another universals w the sound sig i like.. i am using atrios m5 currently. love the sub bass on these and cant find anything else that produce the same rumbling bass that i can feel.

wonder if the mg6pro is a natural next step up for atrios? or should i go for UM customs like merlin/3DD? i prefer the sound from dynamic drivers. good thing abt UM is at least can still be reshelled. mg6pro cannot at all.

Your ears good lor. My point wasn't so much on your ears but rather what a tiny iem driver in that tiny enclosure can produce, as in are you really hearing/feeling the real 10Hz or just distortion/harmonics. Huge real hifi subwoofers you don't see alot of sub-20hz ratings one. Headphones also will have problems producing such low frequencies properly. So if a tiny iem can do it...

Btw do you know what headphones you used during the test? I also did hearing test @KTPH ENT recently but didn't ask about the range cos is do for blocked ear so that wasn't the main concern. They used the Sennheiser HDA 200. I see the website specs it's rated at "only" 20-20,000Hz. Maybe i should give them a call to ask :D

Anyway imo hearing test can have quite abit of error cos the room is so silent and the nature of the test is such that after a few beeps you start to "hear things", machiam like ringing effect. You will tend to anticipate and 2nd guess when the next tone is coming and sometimes seems like have or don't have also can't be sure and sometimes you thought there's a tone and just press button. So to me i feel there's quite a substantial dose of mind play in it, especially if you already have the intent before the test. Also, there's no 2nd take so you may never know how accurate the results are. So to me such tests are more to detect obvious problems and roughly compare L and R ears relatively rather than really test your hearing limits lol.

quite true la.. sometimes it's also a very very small noise from the source.. the lowest i ever heard was 15hz with gr07.

for my ears the super low frequencies(30 and below) and super high frequencies(17+) gets pretty soft..
but for around 10k to 15/16k those freq very irritating to my ears, too sensitive to it..
Normal or not arh?

How much tax did you have to pay for your 8a?

Did you get the perfect seal on your first time?

What would you say is the average costs of getting a pair of customs? Like just a good mid level custom. Doesn't have to be flagship or anything. $600sgd? $800sgd?

Sound wise got any universals compete with customs? Like based on similar sq and tastes. Like removing the advantages that applies purely to customs (superior isolation and comfort etc), which pair of universals would you say to be on par with the flagship models?

Another way of looking at it is which universal iem when reshelled would sound as good as the flagship ciem?

Would a reshelled tf10 sound the same as a same tier-ed triple driver ciem tuned to the same sound sig?

Which one would you pick assuming the same costs?

My 8a and 4a tax is 100+.
No universal come close. Not being exaggerating.
My 8a got a perfect fit. But 4a did not. Both using the same impression.

Yes

JH5 seems pretty popular

There's quite abit of those who owned the um3x upgraded to the jh13 when it first released. (Based on what went on in jaben forums)

Another way of looking at it is which universal iem when reshelled would sound as good as the flagship ciem?

If sound as good or close people buy ciem for what? People use ciem coz they tio poisoned or can't get good for on universals. Totl universals like fitear334/k3003/pfe232 and all have their own following too

Answered some above

Oh I thought people buy ciem cause of the advantages of ciem other than sq. like better fit, better isolation, better comfort

And because it's perhaps cheaper and easier to buy a flagship ciem than to reshell a flagship universal

But as rubick has said, does that mean that ciem companies are the best iem makers out there even if they decided to go into universals?
