Anyone here like me still waiting for new account activation code after transferring $1k? Alot of people complaining on their FB after waiting for too long. CIMB seems to be short-handed. :(

i believe we all applied last wk of OCt when CIMB raised IR rate first.. its start of nov then all the other banks also increase.. if not would not have bother to apply.
My point is, if you're still waiting for CIMB, wait no more. SIF processes new accounts very fast. Can almost immediately enjoy the new rates.

Must be quite unlucky. I got the activation code within 24hrs of the initial $1k

You waited how long? 🙁

I opened the account on 4 Oct via Clicks app as I am their cc holder. As it's a joint acct, I transferred the required $500 (from my acct) + $500 (my joint acct) on 4 Oct. Then I received an email saying the acct will be activated within 1 business day. I didn't hear from them again and I assumed my acct was activated.

On 8 Oct I transferred in 10k without any problem.

31 Oct, interest was credited

Then on 1 Nov when my several attempts to transfer $ out failed, I called the CSO. That's when I was told that my acct was NOT ACTIVATED because they are still waiting for my joint acct. holder to transfer $ in. To which I told them $ was already transferred from my joint acct. Then CSO requested me to email the joint acct statement showing both my name + joint acct holder name as supporting document (coz both $500 deposited earlier only showed my name as the acct holder) and he will put in a note to expedite it to activated acct in 1 business day.

When my acct was still not activated, I called them again on 3 Nov which CSO say still processing. I just received an email today, 5 Nov, that acknowledged receipt of my supporting document and the relevant dept is processing my application.

That's the whole timeline. Definitely a service lapsed on their part for not following up when they didn't receive the $ from the required joint acct holder (which in fact was deposited) for the whole of Oct. The acct behaves just like any regular saving acct, I can transfer $ in and I got my interest credited. There was no indication that my acct is a non activated acct. Imagine if I had not try to transfer $ out, I wouldn't have found out that the acct is NOT activated at all.

I'm seriously considering complaining to MAS or somewhere. You can't not activate ppl's acct but still accept deposits, then locked in the $. Mine is small amt, I'm sure there are other ppl who transfer much bigger amts. If I had needed the $ to 救命, I'll be dead by now.

my own account still haven't activate till today. open and transferred 29th oct.

for joint account opening, i'm told via CSO previously that to proof activation it is best to use 1 x Person A plus 1 x Person B personal accounts to transfer over instead of Joint A+B account to transfer in to activate the account.

You need to have huge stockpiles of cash (>250k) to really take advantage of the higher-tier interest rates offered by Starsaver.

I'm guessing most people in that situation would likely have better investment options.
Not true. I'm transferring about a million in.
This is very good product as i need liquidity till early next year.

same.. imagine if 100 person open acc x $1k , thats 100k they get to use for free as deposits/loans .. 100k not a lot to a bank but is still money

u r lucky that u r able to get thru to TALK to a CSO, the last 2 days I had been calling, all I hear was automated voice and irritating noisy music in the background...

First time I called, waited very long. Gave up, called the 2nd no. listed on their website and got thru. 2nd time called the same number and got thru as well.

Noticed when trying to create login at CIMB, there's a compulsory field to indicate mother's maiden name? We need to enter our mother's full name?
