I'm under the existing customer promo since Aug.
On 1 Nov i transferred all my balance to another bank, forgot about the min 1k balance for savings... does it mean my bonus interest for Oct is gone already?

Guys, I advise you all not to keep money here too long.
Their anti-scam preventive measures are too intrusive imo.

Last week I wanted to clear out my entire CIMB account balance
After sliding the bar to confirm transfer transaction a message appeared saying the transaction will take place after an hour, or something like that.

I went away, thinking ok lo. Later I go check.

but my recipient account never received the money

as it turned out. CIMB called me, which I missed. So they went ahead to CANCEL MY TRANSFER. What the f*** right????????
not only that . They locked my internet banking access just to play safe. The message that appeared when I tried to logon was ‘account blocked…due to too atttempts to logon’
You blocked due to too many FAILED attempts I can understand
But I logged on every time with the correct pw you block for f***?

I dun understand this cimb sia. I alrdy completed all the validation required by the app then why do you still need to call me and perform all kinds of ‘keh zhua’ action and cancel mytrsf and block my account???
If you need to perform extra manual steps that means your app ib validation/verification not robust right???

then you call their number now also have to be kept waiting long like calling that hopeless uob too.
then nvm to unblock my account they asked so many intrusive personal questions.
I urge you all to slowly transfer money out bit by bit alrdy. Really rubbish bank procedures 👎😠

If u miss your call you still blame the bank?

But then again, the bank should schedule a reminder call or whatsapp for response in next 15mins before taking drastic action to block account. (But bank so free meh? Safety first or convenience to user first?)

security and convenience never walk hand in hand.

Suddenly you login to transfer out full balance, confirm suspicious in the current climate of scams la. Correct login credentials or not doesn’t matter, a hacker having full control of his victim’s phone has the correct login credentials.

actually i would be happy if my bank would protect my accounts and perform a call back to confirm my transaction esp for large amounts.

people complain when bank try to protect customer account, then cry father cry mother when scammers manage to transfer out their funds.

Just curious to know a bit more details. Did you transfer to a newly setup payee account, or an old payee that already had transactions previously?

CIMB increase credit limit need 3 hr cooling period. Add payee also need 3 hr cooling period.

I am still using physical token. When doing both need to sign using physical token.

And when login to mobile app using fingerprint, need to enter SMS OTP.

In the face of scams nowadays, not complaining. Wish our local banks can protect our money better. DBS one of a kind. In addition to transferring out bank balance, the scammers took up loan and transfer out the money. No authentication needed at all for loan. And DBS say customer has to take responsibility for it.

I fully support the bank action. I rather more steps / trouble to transfer out money than to suddenly realize my account was cleared out by the scammers.

Recent scams are really scary. 1 wrong move and all money could be gone.

Again the magic word diversification appear. You need to spread out your monies all over not all concentrated in one bank. Some is becuz good interest so all whack but sometimes it maybe wise not to all in just take some put elsewhere slightly lesser interest still ok. That is me never all in!

Beside CIMB 3hrs cooling period and OCBC has 12hrs cooling period. Whereas DBS is almost immediate for changing limit or adding new payee which allow scammers to transfer large amount immediately. DBS put the blame on customers for downloading malware on their phone. Fully support CIMB and OCBC to protect their hard earned customer's fund. We had heard through social media that scam victims are mostly customers from DBS/POSB. Keeping enough fund for GIRO payment in DBS/POSB.

12 hours is way too long in my opinion. It's half a day. A 2-4 hour windows is more reasonable, especially during likely waking hours. There should also have hardware key (asymmetrical keys) if want to reduce the cooling period to sign the transaction.

However for token change to a new device, I agree a 24 hour cooling peirod is required since this is of the highest risk.

Guys, is there a 'KILL' switch in CIMB APP? Can't seem to find it.

CIMB hotline opens 9a - 7p.
Outside those hours not sure if credit card side can perform 'KILL' function upon request should the need arises.

Need to understand the demographics.

Ocbc alot old ppl with alot of money, that are forced to use ibanking. Any fraud notifications etc they have to check with others. So 12hr.

Cimb for the average ppl, 3hr is reasonable.

Dbs/posb is poor ppl bank. This bank also houses the most ppl who live paycheque to paycheque, ppl who camp by the atm for midnight every month on payday to withdraw all their salary.
Many ppl have a dbs acct also bcoz they use it to withdraw money from their atm only. Or to use paylah on friday.
Not even worth the effort.
