wierd, i dont remember opening fastsaver taking so long time.

Did you transfer in 1k SGD from another external account yet?
I remember it was one of the requirements to activate it.

Or perhaps did the CSO tell you anything?

Wah GG, means either CIMB overlooked, or their backend screwed up.

I remember such thing happening when a lot people suddenly create an account for their FD rates as well as their first savings account promo that started last year. Some people complained that it took freaking long to appear.

You probably need some good luck liao o_O

If I am you, I would just told them to cancel the FD placement. You are wasting xx days of interest.
Just check with them, they mentioned they can backdate based on the day i deposit. So still okay, no lost of interest.

But just wondering why CIMB take so slow to proceed.

I have an account with BOC and they are way much faster in any aspect.

Do take note that CF is not under SDIC-insured and not capital guaranteed. Will give 4.2% p.a for the 1st $20k
Please check out the CF thread

This is normal for CIMB. They are very slow in doing the KYC, and then they will ask you to email them a scanned copy of your IC. Really stupid. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of Singpass and then they hold the scanned copy for goodness knows how long until some hacker steal it or what. :/

provide scanned copy of IC is just an additional level of checks. I do not think it is stupid. Nowadays there are so many people who sold their Singpass to scammers and are used to open bank accounts.

Just to update; today called up CIMB again to check on my fastsaver account status since its still not activated after close to 1month.

The cso told me i have to do a online video call verification in order to activate my account. I asked them how come i not being informed of this video call thingy despite of me calling them up a few times to check on my account status. CIMB only asked me to wait for all this while....

In the end, this cso helped me to get a video call booking via whatsapp.

The way they do this feels very intrusive
TBF, still better than letting 3rd party companies help do the verification like most SG companies would do or even the government singpass

If you go to the new MVNO Eight and sign up online, they use an american "data broker" to do the check
https://www.jumio.com/privacy-center/privacy-notices/online-services-notice/

Afterall, each human data is only worth 0.148 cents according to PDPC. Even a fishball cost more than me

This CIMB FastSaver high interest work the same as the HSBC EGA and SCB eSaver? Need to play the "merry-go-round" game?
