Cingjing minsu

I just came back from Taiwan, and stayed in Starry minsu. Personally, I think Starry is overrated. There are over 100 minsu on that mountain to choose from...

According to the driver I've engaged, Starry is located ~1800m above sea level. The journey up there is terrible. I've been to Taiwan umpteen times, and this is the first time I traveled on non-tarred roads up a mountain. Maybe I am unlucky... During my 1.5 hours journey from bottom of mountain to Starry, there's slight rain and fog. The narrow single lane roads up the "silent hill" made the experience even more uncomfortable.

There's much hype about the friendly owners. However, I think this is operated much like a motel without much interactions. Some of their recommendations aren't good as well. E.g.
- Mr Lee recommended a driver to ferry me from Taichung to Starry, and this is what the driver quoted me "費用上是TWD6000元" for a 8 seater van. In the end, I found my own contact from another HWZ thread for only NTD 4500 from Taoyuan instead of Taichung!
- Journey from Starry to Cing Jing: Mr Lee said he provide one-way journey only. I.e. We need to check-out to go Cing Jing and go back ourselves to collect our luggages. Likewise, I asked my that driver to come back fetch me and paid him NTD 3500 for a one whole day tour from CJ Farm to 3 other attractions to Sun Moon Lake to my hotel in Taichung.

My driver told me there are over 100 minsu up there. Maybe the rest can try others and give reviews? Many of the drivers can give good recommendation on the ones popular among locals. As to which one, ask any trusted driver

my experience wasn't that bad with starry le... in fact was quite good, though Mr Lee was really busy, manage to have a good conversation with him

Journey up to starry was like what i expected, countryside feel, non tarred roads, bumpy as well

accomodation wise still ok lahzz homely feel, steamboat was nice also nothing to complain.

only thing is that Starry is a bit inconvenient as it is at the top.

as for the drivers Mr lee also recommended me but i did my own home work and found other sources and worked within my budget

journey from starry to cingjing, one way journey??? you sure?? was there last week and pretty sure he sent me to cingjing and pick me up from swiss garden as i requested.

just came back from taiwan today.. stayed in misting minsu for a night.. nice owner, nice breakfast (provided) and dinner (not expensive).. big room and toilet but only problem is i have to climb long stairs.. but still will recommend to people.. paid around 2000ntd for a night..

I stayed both Energy and Misty Minsu.

I highly recommend Misty. I actually cancel the first trip to cingjing due to typhoon the day before. The lady boss didnt even qn me and refund me everything!

So we went to cingjing this jan. The lady boss is extremely kind. My friend was sick and she immediately noticed it and arranged a free transport to buy some medications. The dinner serving was very big and real GOOD.

The breakfast was really good stuff! The veg was very crunchy, and lots of variety to choose from. She also provide free transport up to farm.

Room was big, clean and noth to complain about. The stairs is very high up and some ppl might have problem going up.

Was really happy with their care and service. bought a chocolate gift for lady boss when we were leaving.

For energy villa, their room was the best. nicer and very well furnish than Misty. The breakfast and steamboat dinner were just 'ok'.

How to go to spring ground minsu

Hey guys, I'm planning to go straight from Taoyuan international airport? Any advice on how best to get to Spring ground minsu?

coz u neber do ur homework properly.
n dun forget the journey is freaky far. taichung to cingjing.
if u take e-go services up to starry minsu, it is 400-450 per pax. i go with my family and gf, so it is 4 pax. if u have fewer pax and yet pay 6000nt, likely u kana chopped.

starry minsu owner will offer to take u down to cingjing farm .. where u can make ur way down to the garden.. n he will fetch u back to minsu in the evening time. not sure why u nee to pay for another driver to bring u there.

it is consider one of the cheapest minsu there, if u tried sourcing other minsu, it is quite expensive.
i have stayed starry minsu and enjoyed it very much. steamboat dinner n breakfast was too fantastic. if u wan interaction, u have to initiate the conversation. tat time i even tok to the daughter.

(Option 1)
Day 1
- Reached taoyuan airport at 1155
- Take shuttle bus to Taoyuan HSR and take HSR to Taichung (gauge will reach by 3pm?)
- is it a better idea to go straight to cingjing which requires ard 2 hours to reach and that will be ard 5pm.. anything to do there @ 5pm? we are going to book a night stay @ one of the cingjing minsu

Day 2
- visit cingjing farm, 18deg cafe, mini swiss, puli and is it possible or worth to visit lushan hotspring?
- travel back to taichung and check in hotel
- feng jia night market

Day 3
- any interesting spots in taichung in the morning?
- take HSR back to taipei for dinner

(Option 2)
Day 1
- Reached taoyuan airport at 1155
- Take shuttle bus to Taoyuan HSR and take HSR to Taichung (gauge will reach by 3pm?)
- check into hotel @ taichung to ssrr ard and go feng jia night market
Day 2
- wake up early in the morning and travel to cingjing
- visit cingjing farm, 18deg cafe, mini swiss, puli and is it possible or worth to visit lushan hotspring?
- stay in cingjing minsu
Day 3
- head back to taichung
- any other spots to visit?
- take HSR back to taipei for dinner

which option is more feasible?

I recommend starvilla 摘星花园山庄. This is not within the town area but at the foot of cingjing area. The minsu owner sent us to the top of cingjing where we had the whole afternoon to explore. He then arranged transport to send us back to the minsu at 7.30pm.

This is a licensed minsu, and there was a promotion when I booked, nt1800 for 2, family room with view and breakfast. I think it is a very good deal considering the room was big and there is a veranda to watch the skies from. They don't require deposit, just email will do. They also have private transport from taichung at 350~400nt, but I just took nantou bus.

And if it's a bonus, it's also within walking distance to the old England manor which has pretty good views of the mountains. There are some restaurants around but I settled my dinner at this restaurant above Starbucks(and got a free ticket to small Swiss garden too!)

Breakfast is a huge pot of congee, fried egg, vegetables, pork floss and some appetizers. I walked around the villa and saw a farmland of veges so that's where my breakfast came from.

Anyone stayed at Shangrila Hanging Garden Resort before? Heard its near Misty villa.

Star Villa is expensive at $150 a night..

Any other recommendations? Prefer to have nice views and shuttle services to attractions like sheep farm.

Just to confirm, will all the Minsu offer free transport to and fro cing jing farm?

I am travelling with a 2 year old and I want logistic to be as hassle free possible

I chanced upon this official CJ site offering accommodation at NT3K per night
