Cingjing minsu

I am planning to farm stay in Taiwan in November 20th.
Not sure how to travel to these mingsu places.
Seems like need to take trains and buses to reach these ulu places.

Is it better to buy a package tour?

You can.....drive! Like what I did. You don't need big brass ones. Need to observe safety when driving. That is all.

GPSr I used? My Android phone. Installed HERE because it allows you to download maps and can go offline.

Strangely, you have to pick on a msg that has passé, not that i have a bone to pick.

OK lah if want to advise properly, the best way to reach these minsu is to email or call them on directions on how to reach their place. Package tour for Taiwan will most likely not be worth it.

Most of the minsu are located along the major highway road for Alishan or Cingjing. The more remote ones are on lanes off the main highway and may need a long walk down. For example the one I stayed in Cingjing is Cingjing New Paradise which is really deep inside off the road. Come in is easy. Getting out requires a long walk up.

So if it is public transport you are taking, you have to consider where it is located. They can advise you if it is accessible by public transport. For Cingjing, Nantou Bus plys the Cross Central Highway up to Cingjing.

So hire a driver or self-drive if really unsure.

Some of these minsu are off the highway into the lanes that go down the hillside. You don't want to be cursing and swearing for the ingress and then struggle for the egress climbing up the sloping road. No, having wheels on your luggage will not help.

Cingjing minsu are so much of a mystery like what you said. In fact, looks so closed to the roadside, but seriously driving up and down into small routes does take some challenge.

They will drive you in but after that, you are on your own if you want to walk out and explore what offerings are there on the main highway.

But seriously. If dinner, best settle with driver. He also need to eat if you hired him for the duration of the stay. Else, nothing to do in the minsu. It is a BnB. You go there sleep and next morning eat breakfast and go.

Walk is for those who came in by public transport. Drive in and out is a challenge because these lanes are one-way. So need some give and take if you meet incoming traffic. My experience with Cinjing New Paradise is that most of the people drive in. Locals with their own cars or tourists with hired transport. They check in by 5 PM but not earlier than 4 PM. Official check in time is 3 PM.

Think most minsu can help arrange transport to/fro. From taichung, e minsu web put nt350 for arranged transport, comparatively by nantou bus is nt256. ~nt100 more, i rather arranged transport. Hahaha. Unless u travelling big group, then maybe rent car cheaper. Assess whether the hassle n $ saved worth not bah.

Cingjing when dinner eat at e minsu u staying better? Steamboat dinner usually ard hw much?

Is Shangrila Hanging garden a cheaper option to Star Villa?
Does it offer good views or maybe better location to amenities?

Wonder why the official CJ resort will get booked out soon especially when it's basic room is going at nt3k but the room views look ordinary. Because it is in the heart of CJ plus near amenities?

Just saw your message, I did stay at 国民宾馆 before sometimes in Aug 2014 . . Room normal with free breakfast and tickets to Cingjing farm.
Best is it's very near to the amenities nearby and also to the farms as well as to the nearby bus stop.

However i will never go there again. You have to climb like 4-5sets of stairs and walking a long distance to reach your room. During my stay, we have to rest 2-3times before reaching our hotel.

Mind you, the stairs are not normal stairs. They are those poorly built stairs that will be slippery. As some of the stairs are outside the hotel, it's very dangerous and slippery during rain.
