For those planning to buy car. Here is some information for you. The COE price will be at current levels. This is because the car dealers is using tricks to ensure they get the order. Here is how they do it.

The mark up a lot a lot for the car. At the showroom, the buyer will negotiate for better price. The sales executive will claim the price after discount is Base on COE $45k or lesser. (You are getting special deal) it's fake.

When you squeeze them more. They just act stressful. But in their heart. They are thinking how to make you pay the deposit.

Finally after rounds of offer. The buyer is offer a deal with 15% discount Base on COE $45k. With 6bids. The buyer place deposit.

When the next exercise bidding. the agent bid $63k COE and secure the COE. Then tells buyer they absorb the difference.

So beware.
One way is check the price of the car origin. Add 200% government tax. Then agent need at least 40 to 50% mark up and add COE price. Be smart. Don't regret later.

Yes, the only way for COE prices to go down decisively is to disallowed car dealers from bidding the market; making COE cost as part of the car loan....

But sadly, Josephine said no.....well we all know why and who's in bed with whom.....

Hope voting SG folks are aware of what exactly this PAP Government is doing to our economy....who actually benefits from the PAP system and who are paying for it.....

There is one way to reduce car demand!

Make motorcycle COE $1.

This way there will be lesser OPC borderline-buyers.
Lesser demand to buy a car for transport, when a three-wheel motorcycle can satisfy the needs.
Less cars crowded on road when single driver in car, convert to ride motorcycle instead.

The solution is to release more motorcycles COE quota!!

Good advice ... markup amount will let you know how much they actually can discount

You do understand that the COE system is one of LTA's revenue generator, no?

They even reduced motorcycle COE allocation to make room for more cars....(think at a ratio of 2-3 motorcycles COE taken off for an additional car COE on the road. )

Very indicative of this PAP Government's intention....unlike the PAP Pioneers who worked for people's welfare...
