Asking for opinion.

If my coe is due on 31 Oct 2019, should i wait or just renew now?

If renew now, i will lose around $700+ of unused coe.

It makes sense to renew now right or i am wrong?

If i renew in May 2019, i will pay Apr or May pqp? And new coe will start from when?

Your new COE will start from the very day you renew.

I renewed my cat B even though I was going to lose about 1.2k of unused COE. Paid 16k for 5 years. Within 2 months I think the pqp went up almost 2k. Better renew now if you want

Nope.. If I'm not wrong u can only get May pqp. I just renewed mine in late march and they can only give me April pqp.

Ok i just logged on and saw i have the option to choose either Apr or May and May PQP is higher by $1711. So i will definitely renew base on Apr. If i choose Apr, my new coe will start from what date?

Shld be start from the date ur coe renewed. One common misconception is some will thought that coe renewal will start upon the end of ur current coe.

Eg, your current coe end in Oct 2019. You renewed coe in April 2019, your new coe starts from April 2019 and not Oct 2019.
Technically u 'burnt' the old coe from April to Oct.
Its up to individuals whether they wanna renew upon the end of their current coe or slightly earlier. Some will see that the coe trend is going upwards and decide to take the plunge and renew earlier.

Thanks all for the advise. I better renew it next week as coe seems to be on the up trend and the forfeited unused coe is only $700+. So better take the plunge now.

Same decision. Forfeit 6mths of current coe worth about $1k.

Pqp going up due to
A. 13.7%% cut in quota of cat A and 0% growth rate

B. The average formula means the low 25k in feb will be drop off n the latest 2 surge prices in apr will be in calculation going forward.

C. Cat A will catch up with cat B which is very high now. Pple who cannot reach cat B will chiong cat A

D. Pple topping up for new car give dealer margin to bid

E. If u win the bet by renewing early.. u lose only $1k.. if u lose the bet. The loss can go up to $50k n beyond. So calculated risk approach

F. Panic buying from those staying on sideline.

G. Even the next few coe remain $30+ k , pqp will still go up due to average formula. No more $26k for me. Bet $1k to win at least $4k with 95% chance of winning. No brainer
Also, even if use may pqp next month, still a $1.7k more than renew in apr. Y shd i give govt $1.7k more for nothing. Use the money to replace wear and tear parts better

H. Even if it go down, it will not go down a lot. Still strong demands from pple like gojek. Sg economy and world economy no signs of recession in next 6 months

I. More are choosing to extend the car life, the number of COE going forward will be lesser and pushed up the price further

J. in worse case coe crash to $1, i still can deregister and get $24866 remaining coe + Parf $9k and buy a new car [laugh]

Thanks all for the advise. I better renew it next week as coe seems to be on the up trend and the forfeited unused coe is only $700+. So better take the plunge now.

COE price is not correlated to economy. Ppl got it wrong thinking that Singapore has a few major entrenchment / factory shut down means COE must come down.
