u all know how to get promoted to lousiest sergeant (3sg)? only after red beret? so look at your red beret performance?

I think 3SGs would be chosen earlier in the course and they might have to go to SISPEC etc (unsure) and not picked from the men who have gotten their red beret since it would be too late to send them for training and return back to unit to train with their men.

CDO Specs very fast 1. 3 months u can be one. a group of ppl will be selected for leadership position after bct, then they will go thru 3 months of CSLC (Commando section leader course) there after the best of the best will go to ocs to be trained as officer while those who didn't will become spec.

just to clarify sergeants are not the same as officers rit? cos in the ranking guidelines, have sct (sergeant cadet trainee) and oct (officer cadet trainee), whereby oct is higher than sct.

sry wht does "specs' stand for? specialists?

so no matter those who go CSLC and become spec or become the better officer, both also earn alot loh.

Sergeants and officers are very different. officers do more planning work while sergeants are usually the 1 on the ground getting the men to work.

Specs stands for specialist which is another way to refer to sergeants.

With every higher rank does come more pay but alot more responsibilities.

the last i heard is abt $900-$1k(when u offically wear the red beret )

many here say that it is rank (eg cpl) $490 + combat/cdo vocation/risk pay $300 = $790 only.

how do you think about this?

are "combat", "cdo vocation", "risk" pay all the same thing?

oh ok your explanation really relieved me. becos from the others, they say is only rank pay + combat/risk/vocation pay...

so they are all separate stuffs.

does the twice ippt in a year affect the money at all?

so according to you, what is basic pay that you mentioned? is there risk pay and combat pay?

but as i mention..i not sure is the jump pay fall under the vocation pay anot.....
1 ippt is $200...every yr..u got extra $400..wat u think le???
basi pay is the basic allowance (for nsf)...reg is basic salary
combat pay..only combatant den haf
i gif u a simple eg of wat is during my time...
rec-$240
pte-$240
lcp-$250++(cant rember liao)(meaning the rank pay is abt $10(based on the amt)
if combat pay is is $30
den a combat lcp will haf $280
den vocation pay...eg a infanty man is pay$30
den a inf lcp will get$310 per mth

so for a cdo
he will get $N-basic pay,$M-vocation pay, $C-rank pay(these 3 cfm haf wan)
but how much i not sure
den, still got ippt, jump and (risk pay)as mentioned by others

Combat pay should be a fix 100 and base on the rest, the vocational part would be the 200 addition. Risk should already be covered by vocational pay which is why each vocation have different vocational pay. IPPT is a 1 off payment and does not affect monthly allowance so should not be a factor when calculating pay.

Regardless, i don't see whats the point of being so interested in the pay. If all you care for is money, you should not choose CDO. Even teaching tuition while serving NS can earn you ALOT more than the CDO additional allowances.

Furthermore, tio VA only. There are hundreds of people getting VAs every batch and its not like tio VA means sure can become a CDO...

Wah anyway for the amount of pay you get, you do more **** than the equivalent rank of your pay in another infantry unit.. though you are expose to more operations and have to do more standby duties which is bye bye weekends!

other units got earn as much meh?
