NEW DELHI: An Air India plane crashed at the airport in India's western city of Ahmedabad, television channels reported on Thursday (Jun 12), without specifying whether there were any fatalities.

The plane was headed to Birmingham, an aviation source told Reuters.

The crash occurred when the aircraft was taking off, the TV channels reported. Visuals showed debris on fire, with thick black smoke rising up into the sky near the airport.

About 133 people were on board the flight, a source said.

They also showed visuals of people being moved in stretchers and being taken away in ambulances.

I suppose it is the serving of the plane that is the problem. Maybe air traffic controllers contribute to it .
Indian pilots is top notch .

An Air India Ltd. Boeing Co. 787 aircraft, traveling from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick airport, has crashed, according to local media reports.

Flight 171 crashed shortly after take-off. The flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew, according to news agency ANI.

The airline had reached an altitude of 625 feet at a speed of 174 kilometre per second, according to data from Flightradar24. Social media videos showed black smoke billowing from afar.

Air India’s fleet includes 128 aircraft from Airbus SE and Boeing, accordingt o the carrier’s website.
