Beat red light on bicycles in Pasir Ris got charged

That is why many dislike cyclists. Especially to those De-Tours.

https://mothership.sg/2026/06/pasir-ris-cycle-collide-man/

The pair’s lawyer argued that the pair not only kept in touch with the man’s son, but also visited him with a fruit basket.

The pair also voluntarily provided the man monetary compensation and were remorseful.

At least this pair attended to the victim and compensated him. They did not resort to victim-blaming, either.

They were named and charged, too, facing potentially a jail term.

Good to see cyclists charged for endangering pedestrians. However, the penalties sought are not aligned with the light penalties given to drivers who caused accidents.

The prosecution urged a two to three-week jail term for Mercado and a four to six-week jail term for David, arguing they bore a responsibility as road users to observe road traffic rules, which were put in place to ensure the safety of others.

The law is too relax with them , they also seems to be immune to the law and regulations. If im a cyclist, i will also don't care so much since nothing wil happen to me. Enjoying my hobby at the expense of the public road users.

there is little to no enforcement on daily basis.

if a motorized bicycle have greater freedom, less blame in accidents and does not cost a COE...why should i be even getting a motorbike?

Think nothing much wrong with bypass, as they (pure bicyce) can legit cycle on both. As for the chionging, its one thing when its a small crossing like one two lanes with little traffic. More people (pedestrian including) tend chiong across as compare to dumb dumb stand there wait on an empty road. Its commonsense. But problem ones are those that anyhow do so on big junction with traffic moving.

Boomer, smoking while cycling
Tosses cigarette butt
Kids say "littering is bad!"
Boomer stops, throws his bicycle at them.
Kids report police.
Boomer arrested.
Boomer sayed "it is true, I threw the bike at them"

Bicycle is cheaper overseas.
