Covid deaths soar to 146 in deadliest day since March as cases dip to 23,510​

Tuesday marked the highest number of deaths since March 6 when 153 fatalities were recorded in the official data. While the death toll soared, new daily infections have dipped to 23,510 new positive cases. It compared to Monday’s 25,161 new coronavirus daily cases and 37 deaths. Earlier in the day, London’s Covid cases by borough were revealed with nine areas recording a rise in infections. The new coronavirus data come hours after Boris Johnson celebrated vaccinating more than three-quarters of adults in the UK.

As of 13 August 2021, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 45 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection. 20 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. 12 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. 13 are currently unlinked. Amongst the cases are 3 seniors above 70 years who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and are at risk of serious illness.

In addition, there are 4 imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. 2 were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while 2 developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

In total, there are 49 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore today.

We are still working through the details of the cases, and further updates will be shared via the MOH press release that will be issued tonight.

As of 14 August 2021, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 57 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection. 29 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. 11 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. 17 are currently unlinked. Amongst the cases is 1 senior above 70 years who is unvaccinated, and is at risk of serious illness.

In addition, there is 1 imported case, who was detected and isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

In total, there are 58 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore today.

COMMUNITY SURVEILLANCE TESTING AT 52 & 53 CHIN SWEE ROAD AND 3 & 9 JALAN KUKOH​

14TH AUG 2021​

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is investigating likely COVID-19 transmission at 52 and 53 Chin Swee Road[1], and 3 and 9 Jalan Kukoh. So far, five cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in two households at 52 Chin Swee Road. Separately, three cases of COVID-19 infection in three households and seven cases of COVID-19 infection in four households, have been detected at 3 and 9 Jalan Kukoh, respectively. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing to determine linkages and the source of transmission.

2. In order to uncover community infection cases, MOH will conduct mandatory COVID-19 testing for all residents of 52 and 53 Chin Swee Road, and 3 and 9 Jalan Kukoh; as well as owners and staff of commercial units at these blocks. As an added precautionary measure, mandatory COVID-19 testing will also be conducted for all staff and cleaners working at Jalan Kukoh Food Centre (1 Jalan Kukoh). Testing is optional for those who have tested negative for COVID-19 infection from 11 August onwards.

3. Mandatory testing will be conducted on 15 August between 9am to 4pm at the void deck between 51 and 53 Chin Swee Road, and from 15 August to 16 August between 9am to 4pm at the level 4 void deck of 9 Jalan Kukoh, respectively.

4. All residents are to bring along their NRIC for identification purposes.Leaflets have been distributed and SMS notifications have been sent to the residents to provide them with more information. Residents are reminded to keep to their appointment time. Residents are also advised to monitor their health closely and consult a doctor immediately if they feel unwell. Those who are still awaiting their test results are advised to minimise social interactions as much as possible. They should continue to monitor their health and seek immediate medical attention if they feel unwell.

Safe Management Measures for Private Tuition and Enrichment in Phase Two (Heightened Alert)​

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, MOE strongly encourages that all tuition and enrichment classes be conducted online, and telecommuting be the default arrangement.
2. For tuition and enrichment classes that choose to continue in-person instruction, the Multi-Ministry Task Force (MTF) announced on 6 August 2021 that Singapore will be transiting into the endemic state in a calibrated manner, with Safe Management Measures gradually eased from Tuesday, 10 August 2021.

[Updated 13 Aug 21] Fast and Easy Testing (FET) for cleaners operating in settings with children 12 years old and below

3. As part of enhanced national measures for workers involved in higher-risk activities, FET will be mandatory for cleaners (regardless of vaccination status) who work in private tuition and enrichment centres that have students 12 years old and below (i.e. born in 2009 or later).
