I am considering to transfer part of my OA to SA. May I know once SA reaches FRS, how much of cpf contribution from employment will remain in SA? Am I also correct to assume the rest will flow into OA?

According to CPF FAQ:
Q
If I have met the current Full Retirement Sum in my Special Account (SA) after the transfer, will my future CPF contributions still be credited to my SA?
A
Part of your future contributions will continue to be credited to your Special Account. This is to help you build up more cash savings for retirement.

How much is this part of future contribution?

Hi, when SA reached FRS, the monthly MC will continue flowing into SA with no changes. The only changes will be rates tied to your age group.

Future contribution, whether MC or VC, part of it will go into SA and remain there regardless of whether FRS in SA has been met.

Special 'payout' was history. Better not keep advertising me. I not rich :s13: I had to rent out my study room.

Henry, I recall you mentioning your RA was like 181k, any reason why was not top up to prevailing ERS?

Your memory fail u! Uncle Henry is still young, no RA I think :s13:

He mentioned he has 180k in CPFIS if I recall correctly. He never disclose his OA/SA/RA balance, only 25k interest, so OA/SA/? big big lor :s13:

Cost of investments 180k. Current value of investment 166k.

Then disposed cost of investment 20k. Balance cost of investment in CPFIS 160k (but still got paper loss of 14K on remaining cost :s13:).

Clearer?

Yes, so it's the paper loss below a hypothetical 0% interest earning OA alternative. The adjusted paper loss below 2.5% interest earning OA is greater. OK, got it.

Over what length of time is this paper loss calculated? In other words, how long ago did you shift S$180K into the CPFIS-OA?

"When?" isn't a complicated question, one would think. Is this a paper loss of S$14K after 3 days, 3 years, or 13 years (as examples)? A rough average investment time duration is fine for these purposes.

If you don't want to answer, fair enough, but the question is simple enough, one would think.

Thank you for the replies. I mistakenly thought SA would overflow as with MA.

For people who transfer OA to SA, do you use FRS as a guideline to determine how much your SA will contain?

You can only do OA to SA transfer up to your FRS.

If your SA is already at or above FRS, you can't do the transfer anymore until 55. :(

Understand. What I meant was, should I top up SA from OA to FRS (this year) and continue taking in contribution base on the allocation rates?

Initially I thought SA would overflow, so I was considering to transfer OA to SA and allow the overflow to occur. This however is wrong as pointed out; SA will not overflow.

Now I am still thinking of transferring OA to SA but maybe a lower amount? I am not sure whether should there be a target amount for SA.

Do you see yourself utilising the OA funds in the near future?

I was also considering transferring some OA to SA, but thinking if I should just leave it as it is in my OA, investing in an ETF instead.

Depends on your investing abilities Bro shadowrains... :(

If you think you can beat 4%, then you shouldn't transfer... :(

What's the difference in tranferring, if ETF is eliigible using OA orSA?

Based on my past investment, I think I can't :(:( But SA will be stuck for long. Hence thinking real hard now.
