use your example: if you have 200k and this 200k is made up of 75k top up+ interest and 125k thru employment.

because 75k is through top up, this sum cannot be withdrawn. but it is still 50k below brs. so 50k is taken from your portion from employment. the other 75k can be withdrawn.
or
you can just say brs is 125k, i have 200k . i can withdraw 75k.

Don't say I pick on you.

I am wanna recap what is said :s13:

Hi all, wish to seek expert advice here. I am not familiar with BRS as I am aiming FRS.

Assuming FRS is 181000 & BRS is 90500. A guy has made 90500 mandatory contribution and 90500 cash top up via RSTU. With property pledge for BRS, can this person withdraw 90500 at 65? Thanks very much.

as far as we understand it, the answer is NO

this is because:
Amt that can be withdrawn under BRS = Total Amt - (BRS + RSTU-cash-top-up)

Here's an illustration from CPF FAQ to show how it works:
Illustration_of_topup_monies_in_RA.pdf

Note that in the illustration, Member B cannot withdraw anything, despite having a balance that exceeds BRS. The diagrams on pg 2 show it very neatly

so if I'm healthy, and happy, I cannot lump-sum take out the monies that I explicitly topped up (using cash)? :s13:

maple96*wrote: Uncle henry is absolutely right! But your argument will be stronger if u shoot dork32 who obviously showed he dun understand CPF rules at all! CPF only use the term "lumpsum withdrawal" to refer to withdrawals from RA! Withdrawals from OA/SA are normal withdrawals allowed in any amount and at anytime so long u meet FRS at 55. Talk CPF rules said:
use your example: if you have 200k and this 200k is made up of 75k top up+ interest and 125k thru employment.

DORK32, U are totally a disgrace to your employer, lecturers and students in your educational institution!

U cannot read, comprehend and understand even when people explain the CPF rules to u, just read all the posts above and read what u have been posting in the past and whole of today.

U dunno what u are reading, u dunno what u dunno, for goodness sake go read the rules at the CPF website and stop disgracing yourself here with all your rubbish explanations! Go reflect yourself! Go educate yourself on CPF rules and stop misleading others. Dun expect me to teach u like a kid with links to all the CPF rules!

if your top up amount is not large, it is not going to affect the amount that can be withdrawn. for many of us, this is going to be likely situation. as a salaried worker, most of us would not be able to top up a lot of money.

of course there are exceptions. people like ocs is topping up their kids cpf even before they are in pri 1. these kids are going to have a lot in the sa when they retire maybe even more that what they can contribute through their employment.

In the example you have written, I had the impression that nothing can be withdrawn, since FRS was not reached and -

From CPF website: (ii) Any Retirement Account savings (excluding interest earned, any government grants received and top-ups made under the Retirement Sum Topping-up Scheme) above your Basic Retirement Sum, if you own a property with remaining lease that can last you to at least 95 years old.

Oh actually nvm, i think someone linked an illustration which showed what I asked about pretty clearly, ie, if you fall below FRS, you cannot withdraw whatever you top-up in previous years even if this top-up monies helped to push the balance pass BRS.

there is no value added in your post. if it is wrong, point out the mistake. if it is valid, i will accept it. otherwise stop being a troll.

What value you expect?

I merely said I just wanna recap what you said (in case you edit your post :s13:)

Based on your knowledge, there is no need to point out the mistake cause you will just add more posts like what you did before on the issue of withdrawal of top-up money by ralliart12.

There I did nuke you a little. But the answer was there. You focus on the nuke instead of the answer.

you sure that SA top up money cannot be withdrawn?

take a simple example of myself.

i have never top up cpf sa before. When i reach 55, i expect my sa to be 300k and frs to be 200k. i can withdraw 100k

if i had top up my sa earlier in my life, i will have a bit more in my sa at 55. Eg i have 350k instead of 300k. i can now withdraw 150k.

for the latter example, it is clear that the withdrawal amount is 50k more.

it does not matter which part of your sa forms the ra.
i can say that the ra is formed by 150k from my employment contribution and 50k from the sa topup, or
i can say the ra is formed by the 200k from my employment contribution.
it makes no difference.

the difference is that i can withdraw more at 55 if i were to top up

From my current understanding, the last statement is true if your balance > FRS. Otherwise the top-up monies stays inside the RA.

Just ignore that "kaykiang" who tried to mislead u with wrong info.

Good u found the correct answer above!

It's fine, we don't need to throw insults here and there. To be honest, these things are bloody confusing and horribly worded. The illustration in the PDF is good, but i am not sure if i would have actively tried to find it if not for someone else linking it in earlier posts.

U are new here, that kaykiang throws more insults everywhere, I merely found an opportunity to give it back to him. Thanks for giving me the opportunity and I will wait patiently at the sidelines for the next one to come :s13:

What if the top up amount and interest earned is more than the FRS?

there is no illustration to this. no one dares to talk about this as well. mango is right, cpf is confusing. this is a valid question.

my stand is that anything above frs can be withdrawn, regardless where it comes from.

is there any limitations or restrictions placed on the amount of OA we transferred over to SA over the years?

After reading the last 2 pages here....I am totally confused with CPF Rules. It seem that the rules are very "gray" so much so that it can be interpreted differently by our hwz experts. :(

This is the place where people create their own CPF rules mixed with their own opinions, trying to become the next "expert" :s13:

Always do your own due diligence! Learn to differentiate whether those guys are talking CPF rules or dictating/imposing their own opinions on others :s13:

It is your money, your future, trust CPFB only, ie the CPF rules, not people's opinions. I always get written reply from CPF for whatever that impacts my money, my future! :s13:

i mean lets say overtime we transferred X amount from OA to SA

does that X amount come into play like the RSTU to SA (no lump sum withdrawal except for the amount above BRS after deducting the total RSTU amount)

for the above-mentioned limitation, does the same concept apply to FRS also? like u reach FRS and above only due to RSTU

wow, i will be bringing disrepute to my job because i made a mistake in interpretation of cpf rules.

at least i do not teach cpf rules in my curriculum.

at least i dare to admit my mistake. this is not the first time that maple pointed my mistake. bbc has pointed my mistake as well, he told me that after 55, you cannot do a manual transfer from oa to ra, if you still have money left in the sa. hey bbc, you want to say i am a disgrace to my instituition as well?

some people are in the finance line, they make glaring mistakes in the financial calculations. they do not understand the the meanings of financial terms. yet when pointed out, they do not admit that there is mistake.

If u dare to state who is your employer, I will ask your employer to review what u have been posting here over the past few months, let them be the judge, are u a disgrace to the education institution.
