How many remotes did you guys get with your TV?

using the traditional TV remote one can easily rewind and fast forward by just pressing one button during movie playback

Well. To each his own. To me at 100" the gain at 4k is noticeable but not drastic.

Can't imagine having a smaller screen size with "8K" resolution.

And furthermore, there are limited sources at the moment in 4k especially the blus.

Even the TV manufacturers is to come out with 8K, is basically a white elephant without the source.

And when the 4k blus becomes the norm, by then, who knows, there will be TV with 12k, 24k?

It's a never ending persuit of technology the TV manufacturers want to create in order to sell TVs.

8K TVs won't be out so fast lah. Wait till the sales of TVs like Quantum Dots, SUHD, HDR and true 4K TVs are no longer sustaining then very likely 8K TVs will be commercialised. I think another 2 - 3 yrs will be the likely date before we can see 8K TVs on the shelves.

I doubt quantum dot will take off in a big way.

OLED will produce better colours and manufacturers are already moving in this direction. Samsung is moving back towards to this technology after seeing what LG is doing.

If you already have a LED TV then there's no point buying the Quantum Dots TV unless you are buying a new TV.

Agree but have you seen other manufacturers going into OLED besides LG? As of now Samsung is doing for wearables and not for large screen sizes.

Cost is a reason and the yield of OLED is another which stands currently at about 80% (according to the leader LG). OLED TV is expensive and OLED 4K TV is lagi more expensive.

Sony and Panasonic are bleeding red in the TV business, they won't bother to invest in new technology. Neither would they have the funds to.

Samsung did have a prototype OLED tv 3 years ago but they chose to bet against it and went ahead with quantum dot. A route that Sony took 3 years earlier than them.

Only LG went into OLED in a big way. LG also manufactures OLED for small screen so I really don't see why Samsung is unable to produce OLED TVs.

It would be too early to write off Samsung in this regard. LG won't enjoy its monopoly for long.

4K content is FAAAAAR from being common place so let's not even talk about 8K content. Don't talk about free to air or Starhub or MioTV. Even Blu-ray you are hard pressed to find 4K content. AFAIK for consoles also no 4K games.

IMO buying a 4K TV now when 4K content is practically zilch, is like buying a Ferrari and driving at 30 km/h. :s13:

At least with OLED I can see a distinct difference in quality (and panel thinness) versus LED.

Unless 4K content suddenly starts coming out like nobody's business (which I doubt), I think I'd rather buy a curved FHD OLED TV. Let all the 4K and 8K OLED TVs come out, better for me as it pushes the price of "lousy" FHD OLED TVs down. :D

4k TVs are great for viewing your holiday photos. In fact, most cameras these days capture photos at resolutions higher than 4k.

4K TVs are also great for passive 3D.

Having said that, 4K and OLED don't have to be mutually exclusive, as 4k OLED TVs are already here.

Watched Life of Pi last night.

That scene of Pi in the sea with the animals was mesmerizing.

Yes but very costly. Personally I'd still go with a FHD OLED esp if by remaining on FHD I can get a larger screen e.g. FHD 65" OLED as opposed to a 4K 55" OLED.

Agreed content for 4K is very limited at the moment.

But do not out there in the market there are some high-end scalers that can upscaled FHD 1080P sources (not SD sources) to "near" 4k/60. SD sources upscaled to 1080p is still acceptable. But not to 4K.

Its not exactly 4K, in terms of 'quality but close enough.

Coming very soon. End of this month.

But at 65", it might be better to get 4k. The resolution might be better at that kind of size.

For me FHD is good enough at 55".

Just finished watching The Dark Knight Rises, noticed that the screen was brighter at the right edge. Anyone else has the same problems? Or is it a calibration issue?

Hi,

I am also looking at the LG 930T model. Did you manage to find yours and if so how much? The best price I found for this is around 3899. I heard some forumers bought theirs 1-2 months ago at 3399-3699 with the mastercard cash back promo. Cant seem to find it at that price now.

i bought my oled tv from lioncity. currently they have a promotion
