I'm curious to know about the 60k annual spend too. I spent on a lot of bills so not sure if it is excluded

Good news, I emailed dbs and they confirmed I qualify for waiver. You can try to email them to check too.

The nice thing about this card is once hit requirement the waiver is automatic.

No need to call CSO and 'beg' for waiver

I chalked about $30k on the card and didn't qualify for waiver. Cancelled the card last week, cos the miles earn rate is just average vs. the specialised credit cards of 4mpd.

Yup so convenient.

My accor account got renewed immediately too and got the free hotel stay right away.

While the Annual Fee is strictly non-waivable for the first year, you will enjoy a waiver in the subsequent years if a minimum of S$60,000 worth of retail spend is made in the preceding Card Year^.

Please note that the 12,500 DBS Points (25,000 miles) will not be awarded if the Annual Fee is waived.

Is there a monthly spending cap for miles for this card? Can't find it on DBS website.

Also, a noob question, is it better to pay in foreign currency when buying air tickets to get more miles per dollar?

Thanks.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'depends on how I value miles'.

Trying some last minutes miles accumulation for a trip to Europe next year. That's why signed up for the bonus 85k miles.

surely you’ll get more miles when in foreign currency. But do note that conversion will be based on visa exchange rate at that moment + 3.25% bank fees.

No limit.

If the airline allows you to pay in FCY or in the local currency of your credit card SGD then the airline will be doing the currency conversion from FCY to SGD and it's pretty much guaranteed to be a worse rate than letting Visa and the bank do the conversion.

ok, thank you. Very useful info for me. Sounds like a bad idea to pay in foreign currency.
