Assuming that spending is only for transactions generating extra points. If not - spending needs to be more.

This is the reason I decided not to get the card. While my ezlink spending is appx $200-$250/mo and phone bill is appx $120-$150 on average, the phone is corp one and I can't pay online - it has to be either ASX (no point, pun intended) to setup recurring payment and that won't generate enough points. There are appx $250-$300 more expenses - SP Services and some misc expenses but I think still won't be enough to generate sufficient number of points.

Please correct me, if I am wrong.

If it doesn't earn 10x then you shouldn't even use this card. Using a DBS altitude make more sense. You can charge phone bills and SP bills to DBS altitude to get the points for redemption too. Charging your ezlink spend to DBS women's and the rest to DBS altitude, you should be almost there, isn't it? Moreover get the ezlink imagine card, top up the Amex purse using DBS women's so all Amex spend also get 10x points. Don't tell me the only thing you ever pay for are ezlink+hp bills+SP bills. NTUC? Dine out? Purchase things online and in store? Surely you are not that frugal until you don't spend at all.

I generally don't bother with AMEX any more.

You might want to look at the ANZ Travel Visa as it gives 1.4 miles/$ for local spend, and on top of that there is no rounding down of transactions. Only drawback is that you cannot check your CC online.

$42.8 is way too high comparing with the rest $25

$42.80 is per year with unlimited transfer. $25 is per transfer. I understand that it still does not make sense if you are just going to transfer once (given the high transfer block)

It requires account number. Which is the same for 2000 other people.

Do you have personal experience doing it?

You are not wrong. There is only one reason to get this card; if you frequently transact online for those things that UOB Preferred Platinum Visa excludes (eg, air tickets, phone bills through VBox).

Based on your use case, that does not seem to be your case, so you are definitely still going to be better off with the PPV card.

Affirmative, that the reason why I stick with PPV and Altitude and splitting expenses between them depending on transaction type.

If it doesn't earn 10x then you shouldn't even use this card. Using a DBS altitude make more sense. You can charge phone bills and SP bills to DBS altitude to get the points for redemption too.
As above. Phone bill will be attached to Altitude once I spend the $1500 I put using AXS station before they cut off points generation using bill payment.

Not really. See below

Moreover get the ezlink imagine card, top up the Amex purse using DBS women's so all Amex spend also get 10x points.
If I understand above correctly, is this pre-paid AMEX card (in addition to EZlink facility) which can be topped off using credit card? If yes, does not it generates charge fees on both AMEX and credit card processing company side?

Don't tell me the only thing you ever pay for are ezlink+hp bills+SP bills. NTUC? Dine out? Purchase things online and in store? Surely you are not that frugal until you don't spend at all.

Ezlink takes $200 or $300/mo - depending on month. Grocery/food expenses are in four places - Giant (appx 60% of expenses, all via EZLink, every week), FairPrice - appx 20%, using PPV (one a month to buy cerial/bars/milk) and the rest on Phoon Huat or Redmart, that's via Altitude. While for Redmart you can pay online, I've done it only once in 3 month and that was $100, so no pattern here.

That card would really make sense if my corp phone can be paid online via vbox, but I do not see the way now.

While there are online purchases, that are exclusively in US $ and I really do not see the reason why should I switch on DBS card and pay extra charges when I have Chase card which gives 3 UA miles per $ spent.

Bottom line is that 1 year expiration period for points is too risky - you might end up buying/spending just because to make 10K points at the end that I really do not like - when I am forced to buy something I do not need.

P.S. Dining out is done in local hawker centers and no, my wife does not buy handbags - she makes her own.

No, no charges. You top up $1000 into the Amex pre paid card, you get $1000 inside to spend and you get $1000 charged to your DBS women's. Got it?

So effectively you get 4miles/$ for all Amex spent on this card.

If UOB PPV serve your need then there is no need to get the DBS women's but too bad there are exceptions to UOB PPV which make it a needed card for me. Paying for phone bills is one thing which is useful for me but you got unique case where you can't pay.

Spending online is another useful aspect which is good for me but useless for you. DBS women's is a MC while UOB PPV is a Visa which mean that i will pay 0.2-0.3% less with the DBS women's for USD spend and more for non-USD foreign currency spend.

Seperate ezlink and Amex purse. Ezlink can top up online using Amex purse so even the $0.90 service charge also get 4miles/$, maximize earning.

The EZ link top and tap is very buggy. I haven't managed to get it done yet. Tried 2 browsers, 3 different computers, 2 different days of the week. No success.

If you're using a Mac then try installing Java all over again as it seems to get turned off occasionally due to security issues. Recently it even disappeared from my browser completely.

Your anti-virus software could also play a part in this. Every time I top up online not only does my browser give me a warning message but the anti-virus programme also pops up with an additional warning.

This definitely beats Paywave (UOB PVV) at the moment for supermarket spend as you do not have to worry about the rounding down to the nearest $5.
