650 points for $10 ntuc voucher. So (61*650) = 39650 points get $610 vouchers.

Cheapest economy round trip for SIN-CPT-SIN is $1433.

So it is a comparison of

a) paying $1433+39650 points for economy+ $610 ntuc vouchers
b) paying $520+38000 points for business

-> b) is the clear winner. in this particular scenario.

Indeed sounds very attractive. But am I right to say that the following assumptions have to be true before such savings actually exist ?

1.) need to be able to generate 38k points within the expiry period

2.) you only travel SIA business and will pay in full regardless and able to find very similar miles conversion rate for other flights to any other part of the world.

Well 1 year for dbs points to expire, then another 3 years for KF miles to expire. So about 4 years to gather the required points across DBS cards.

Need to analyze separately for each flights.

To me, i think ntuc voucher is still more worth it as business class cost is intangible value. Unable to rationally come to the price they advertise. To each his/her own.

So in other words if you have 39650 dbs points, can i pay you $700(give you $90 more) in exchange for 79300 miles?:)

Yes i will do the trade :) an airplane flight last you max 16hrs one way. $700 ntuc vouchers can last me 3.5 months and its value is sustainable can be easily traded(not talking abt the dbs vouchers but normal vouchers). But since you are talking about 700 dollars cash, it will be even more worth it :D

the only thing u need to ask is, do u need to travel?
if not just get the voucher.

The DBS points are awarded for every $5 spent. Does this mean the consolidated amount for the calendar month divided by 5 equals to no. of points or each transaction divided by 5 equals to no. of points?

to me it all depends on if you have travel plans in near foreseeable future (im talking within the next 5 years or so). if you do, the 80k miles can easily redeem you a ticket that incurs a saving of that $700, be it in cash or ntuc vouchers. if you won't have any travel plans, then definitely take cashback/vouchers as miles will not benefit you.

OK thanks. The points balance shown in the statement are not including any bonus points earned for the previous month as bonus points are awarded on the 16th of the following month, and the statement date is 15th, am I correct to say this?

Yes. You can login to DBS rewards to check the latest update on points earned in each quarter.

Can't understand the voucher worthiness unless one don't travel. With 79300 miles, one can travel to Japan in business class and still left 11300 miles in balance. A economy ticket to japan probably cost around $610 or more already.
