Can't understand the voucher worthiness unless one don't travel. With 79300 miles, one can travel to Japan in business class and still left 11300 miles in balance. A economy ticket to japan probably cost around $610 or more already.

Japan in business class is 68000 miles, plus a few hundred dollars in tax. If you're willing to fly on budget airlines such as Scoot, you can get a ticket for as little as $400 during sales. Really depends on what you value.

Yes i will do the trade :) an airplane flight last you max 16hrs one way. $700 ntuc vouchers can last me 3.5 months and its value is sustainable can be easily traded(not talking abt the dbs vouchers but normal vouchers). But since you are talking about 700 dollars cash, it will be even more worth it :D

we need more people like you. :s13:
i would sell the miles even if i don't travel, easily twice the profit.

If logistically possible I would also pay $700 and trade with you. The cost savings I would get is much more than $700.

There isn't a need for each camp to convince the other camp that miles are worth more or less because it all depends on what each individual values more.

You need to book to separate one ways otherwise SQ tends to charge the same amount of fees for the return flight as it is for departing.

I book already, it is all 70 sgd for both ways, for 2 persons. So all in all, only spent around 140 sgd. :)

what do you mean?

So it is better to just redeem a normal return flight or redeem two one way flights to save on taxes?

The best use of miles is to upgrade from economy class to business class for long haul flights due to large price difference, so the rebate will be better than the best online cashback of 7% by singpost CC.

If you use miles to buy economy tickets instead, the saving is much less.

The reason why people purchase business tickets over economy class is because of honeymoon trips, increase of baggage weight, free entry to lounges and so on.

But for Japan both ways is $0 fuel surcharge. Regulated by jap government. So don't really need to book two separate one ways. For other countries maybe can save if book two separate one ways

That's a very good price after the government ruling. I paid around $380 for one way SIN-KIX and one way NRT-SIN, one pax in 2014. The fuel surcharge was a lot.

but in order for class ugprade u have to be certain class fares, and for those certain class fares for economy can be quite expensive/rip off. so not sure if its better value just to redeem straight to business/first

I book one way economy, one way business to save some miles while still able to experience sq business class. May do the same for my Europe trip or New Zealand trip next time.

Need to plan carefully and remember to redeem early. Business class is much harder to redeem compare to economy class.

If not, you will have to wait for the wait list and can only confirm one to two weeks before the actual departure date.

I booked this flight 9 months before the actual departure date.

Do you know that to qualify for upgrade you have to buy full price economy and the price is not those promo price which you usually get.
