Somehow payment to Starhub no longer considered online since start of Mar, this affecting other cards for online spending also.

Hi all,

I'm about to reach the end of my first year on this card (by 30th April). I remember there is a clause that I need to redeem my points by the end of the first year before it drops back to zero. Can I ask the following questions:

1) How do I claim multiple times of the 10k Krisflyer miles by paying only one redemption fee? Do I need to fax/mail in the form manually?

2) If I wait for 16th April for my 9x points to come in, will I be in time to redeem the points before 30th April?

1) select the correct quantity of 10k points. If you intend to redeem 20k, select 2.

I think have some misconception here, not only points accumulated from DBS world expire within 1 year. Other DBS cards also.


DBS Points awarded in the first year commencing from the date the Card Account is opened ("Account
Open Date"), shall be redeemable only during the period of up to 12 months from the date the Card
Account is opened (which will be reflected as the expiry date on the Credit Card statement), failing which
the points will expire and be reduced to zero. Points earned in each successive year will expire a year
from the earned date, with the exception of DBS Treasures Black Elite American Express® Card, DBS
Altitude American Express® Card, DBS Altitude Visa Signature Card and DBS Insignia DBS Points, which
will have no expiry. For the avoidance of doubt, points that have expired cannot be used under the DBS
Points Redemption Programme and/or transferred to any loyalty or frequent flyer programme as DBS
may from time to time make available in conjunction with the DBS Points Redemption Programme.

Edit: i answer my own. GOogle to dbs rewards ....key in NRIC and any DBS credit card number....they have a detail page"DBS points detail" where it tells you exactly what is expiring soon and which card got how many points

The T&C suggests that only whole blocks of $5 spend are eligible for DBS points, is this still being followed?

The reason why I suspect otherwise is because the 497 DBS points issued for the above transactions can't seem to be reconciled with my projections.

The following transactions were made:

1. S$120.86 (spent in Feb, foreign currency)
2. S$282.97 (spent in Feb, foreign currency)
3. S$350.00 (spent in Feb, local currency)
4. S$89.00 (spent in Mar, local currency)

Unless I'm mistaken, for online transactions in local currency, you get x1 immediately, and x9 on 16th of the next month; for foreign currency, x3 immediately and x7 later. Therefore,

1. 120/5*3 {=72} to be issued immediately, 120/5*7 {=168} to be issued on 16 Mar,
2. 280/5*3 {=168} to be issued immediately, 280/5*7 {=392} to be issued on 16 Mar
3. 350/5*1 {=70} to be issued immediately, 350/5*9 {=630} to be issued on 16 Mar
4. 85/5*1 {=17} to be issued immediately, 85/5*9 {=153} to be issued on 16 Apr

Non-rounding to $5 may be able to explain the above.

For initial points, you round the amount to nearest $5 and round down further to nearest 1. For bonus, You add the exact figures up (with decimal) and then round down to nearest 1 from the sum.

It usually is, unless the merchant is excluded. Payment gateway does not influence exclusions.

I would think that in some circumstances, the payment gateway will mask the originating merchant (and the type of purchase), from the bank. I haven't tested this hypothesis, but wouldn't it ordinarily be a breach of privacy if enets/paypal reveals the requestor? To comply with the bank's AML rules - perhaps - but not their marketing department I would think.

The merchant has always been revealed to the bank. Banks has been excluding payment to some merchants via paypal from being eligible for rebate/points.

So far I tried Qoo, Amazon, Taobao, Google play, Guardian online, Redmart, SIA are all getting 10X.

How about Kickstarter and honestbee? Anyone?

The exclusions are clearly listed on the TNCs, and they mainly involve fund transfer services or trading platforms. Everything else that is not excluded (either by merchant or by category) will earn 10x on Paypal.
