I really do like this card and want to keep it, even though I already have the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa which is sort of similar.

Now my plan is to divert more spending to this card so I can get the annual fee waiver.

Annual fee will be automatically waived if cardmember's past 12 month spend is S$25,000 or more.

That's around $2083 a month, $83 more than the cap of $2000 for extra 9X rewards. Pretty do-able.

Anyone successfully get an annual fee waiver for this card even though you spent less than $25K a year?

Do remember that points expires 1 year from earn date, so make sure you earn enough points to redeem before expiry.

Yup, got that in mind. Also gotta remember that you can only redeem in blocks of 5000 points (10K miles), I believe.

Don't like the short expiry date but love using this card for booking travel-related expenses online.

I think most likely DBS will NOT waive the fees if you don't spend $25K a year unless anyone here has any experience to the contrary?

Well, if they don't waive, just redeem out the points from card account and then request to cancel the card. A few days later, just apply online at the DBS Internet Banking and get instant approval for the card and free for the first year again haha

Why not? DBS is one of the banks who are very willing to waive annual fees IMO.

Technically its 12-15 months validity. Points earn on 1st Jan 2013 expire on 31st Mar 2014. And if going for miles, the redemption fees is on annual basis so technically you can just redeem on Mar 2014 and then Mar 2015 so you pay only once every 2 years for the miles redemption.

I don't know man... just assumed it would be so because they state upfront the spend required for a waiver and also because they mention how many DBS points you can use to waive the annual fee. Not sure if I'm correct but it should be 4,000 points for the woman's card.

This is actually my first DBS card so I'm not familiar with how willing they are to do waivers. I saw in this other thread that many people couldn't waive their DBS card fees though some said it was easy:

The 10k miles block can be easily achieved if you also have a Altitude card. Pay for the annual fees and you get 5k points which do no expire. So when your Woman's card points are about to expire, just transfer those + enough non-expiring points to make up the 5k blocks.

You do not have to buy the reader. You can do a top-up online and then update the value in the card at AXS machines or OCBC ATMs.

Personally I prefer using OCBC's machine for this. Less thinking, much more straightforward. :) Just put the card on the reader, select the "Other" option and keep pressing away the default option until the process is complete.

Aren't all DBS points pooled together from all cards that you have?

How do we know which points we are redeeming, will they move the "oldest" ones first or will they always move those with an expiry date (like the ones from the Women's MC) before transferring over those from the Altitude card even if those are "older" and have been allocated earlier?

I know its a ladies card but any men tried applying for a lady? Am thinking of getting either this card or the uob ladies card for my mum but since she's retired, may not be easy if she applies.

Just apply for the DBS card for yourself thru Internet banking and give her a supplementary card :)
