Damn, Ezlink top & tap is still down...

If you have an Android phone with NFC, use EZ Link Mobile to topup. Fee for Mastercard (which DBS woman card is) is waived until May 2014. That's what I have been using right now.

Did you get 4 miles/$ on that transaction?

Yeah that is something I want to confirm as well. I had a previous encounter with buying SQ ticket via their mobile app and didn't get the 10x points due to merchant restriction (as per DBS).

The website appears to be working again for Top & Tap.

After checking the App, it seems the Galaxy S4 is not supported (as per reviews). Guess I'll have to stick with the website.

I've just started using it earlier this month.
I just assume it is online txn, because the Mastercard SecureCode is required, and the SecureCode implies online txn. And the transactions are posted under EZLINK, just like the Top&Tap.
Anyway, need to wait until 16Jan to confirm this.

As mentioned before, S4 is in the list.
But you can just install the app and see if your phone can read the EZLink card.

If it doesn't work with most other S4's, it probably wouldn't work with yours either...

I have a "supported" Xperia phone, which doesn't read the cards either.

Ok, let's set the record straight for the Ezlink app + NFC issue once and for all.

1. Our dear old generic Ezlink cards are using Mifare classic tags which are not compliant with the NFC standard.
2. Many of the latest phones use a broadcom NFC chip which follow the NFC standard and does not read the Mifare classic tags. If your phone has a NXP NFC chip then its able to read the Mifare classic tags. The Samsung galaxy Nexus for example will be able to read the generic ezlink card but not the Nexus 4 or 5.

So all the problems lie with the fact that our ezlink cards are using a standard which does not comply with the official NFC standard. It has nothing to do with the app and whether your phone is inside the supported list, the app will work on almost all phones with NFC capability.

Those Amex Imagine, M1 prepaid mastercard, POSB everyday etc all have newer type of tags which comply to the NFC standards and thus all phones with NFC should be able to read these cards.

Its never charged to your bills, you have to pay using credit cards.

Actually, it's quite messy...

The phone you order is charged to your credit card. Anything to do with the line (which includes charges associated with buying the phone, like SIM card charges, early re-contract charges, etc) are charged to your phone bill.

Was working with v4.2.2 lah. Only after upgrade to 4.3 then all the apps cannot read.

All 3 telcos are the same and even going to the store itself also the same, you only pay for the phone, the rest come with the bills. Its not that confusing, you only pay for the phone....
