Steps for using sheng beis (2 red wooden blocks) to ask questions 。
a. Light incenses and stand infront of Gym or the God of the temple (not facing 天公) , intro yourself, your purpose of visit and your questions.
Report your Name, DOB with Time (Use 农历 lunar calendar if possible) and would like to ask a question pertaining to XYZ
b. After putting the incenses into the temple urn, proceed to one side of temple and wait for about 15-20 mins (This allows GYM or the God of the temple to check on your issues). Meanwhile, you can think through your questions - Many tend to skip this part which is not advisable.
c. Take lot tin and sheng beis and proceed to the prayer section (if any).
d. Inform GYM/God of your question.
Example it is a question of which options (A or B) to choose is better for you.
e. If option A is better for you, please give me 1 or 3 sheng beis and you start throwing the sheng beis.
f. Regardless of the results, you take the sheng beis and proceed to ask if option B is better for you.
g. After 2 throwing the sheng beis for 2 options, if option A has sheng bei and option B does not have, it means Option A is better for you.
In event, both options have same results as both sheng beis or no sheng beis. Proceed to draw lots by following the draw lots SOP to see what GYM/God wish to tell you about your questions (usually got hidden issues that you are not aware of)
h. Note down the lots received and let us know the results of asking questions using sheng bei method and the lots received so we can decipher for you.
Example:
Ask about option A and B, both got no sheng bei and draw lot received lot 2 and lot 98.

For using 3 sheng beis as yes, you have to achieve 3 continuous sheng beis for the 3 throws at first attempt.
Meaning, first throw = sheng bei, 2nd throw = sheng bei and 3rd throw = sheng bei.
When you get a xiao bei at first throw, you can retry again and also rephrase your question to be more direct and clear so Gym or the God can understand what you trying to say. If you tried 3 times and get all xiao bei, it mean they do not wish to answer your question. You can try asking again like in 1-2 weeks later.
