I received my M1210 within 3 days, including weekends, guess that's the benefit of owning Dell laptops for 7 years...

But they will usually call 1 day before delivery? Until now I receive no calls. And under the Delivery Status, it's still in progress only. :(

I'm so excited for it to come :s22:

You can try calling the hotline to check

It's more accurate than the webby thing

Between me and my relatives, we own 4 Dell notebooks:

Dell 700M, Dell 6000, Dell 6400, Dell 9400

None gave problem for the last few years.

Just spoke to them. The notebook is still in 'building' stage and they are only assembling the small components

But I must say their CS is pretty impressive!

I guess I'll be reading my library books instead of playing my notebook these few days :(

Nope

Dell uses Thermal Pad, Pad not paste on the North Bridge and GPU while using paste on the CPU. As shown here

I removed all and use my own paste

But ya I know it takes time for it to set

I oso got a XPS M1210. Can u teach me how to overclock it? Thanks!

May I know which settings did u apply? Did the new settings hang or cause any error msg to appear? I am oso using ge7400 for my xps m1210:) Any overheating problem encountered so far? Thanks!

I went 500Mhz, 1100Mhz

You can apply the setting and untick "Set to when my computer restarts" to test, but the build-in test function work fines.

Heat is not an issue, been Overclocking it for 10 months and sometimes gaming for 5-6 hours straight.
Only problem happened 2 months back when my max CPU temp went 90 degrees, called Dell to do a fan + sink replacement. Apparently the whole entrance of the fins of the sink been clog by dirt. Other than that, nothing else.

You probably may want this fan/temp uility to monitor and control the fan speed

i believed they had some small pricing error in the mth of July for the inspiron models.
For example my 1420 ordered in E/June during the launch was more expensive than similar configuration in early till mid July...ie the price was dropping while I was waiting for the arrival !!.

if u want good bargain,,,,wait till end of the mth COMEX show,,,they will probably throw in free delivery, 2 GB ram and maybe even 3 yrs limited warranty.

It is not pricing error, Dell dynamically changes their prices according to their supply/inventory.

What I call as pricing error is when I got my M1210, I set both package, the basic and the configured one to my ideal spec. And it happened that 1 was more expensive than the other

You can only bang ur own table, cos Dell got no re-seller & dealer.

Wait for comex, current offer not attractive at all.
