If a 90W AC adapter is hot, the 65W will be worst.

If you're using a 9 cell battery, you should go for the 90W.

Example: A car with a bigger engine will take last effort to move the car. As such a 90W will charge faster than a 65W.

I using a 9 cells battery with a 65 watt charger.. not very hot lei

If you run down the battery and then turn ON the adapter it will be very hot.

If you keep it on all the time, it'll be not be very hot because of the trickle charge.

The temperature of adapter depends on the load. The heavier the load the hotter the adapter.

Thanks Diavonex.

Ya I am using a 9 cell with a 90W AC Adaptor.
Maybe I am getting a bit paranoid here as I have heard alot on DELL stories of adaptor and batteries catching fire. =P

Btw, i found it hot when the battery was fully charged and the AC is plugged in.
I don't find this problem with other brand of notebooks.

Run it for another week or two, if the adapter is still "very hot" call Dell for a replacement.

The battery on the other hand should be cool to slightly warm.

If you manage to boot your computer, suggest you use HD Tune to check:

1. Health (SMART) of HDD

2. Bad sectors on HDD
Hi,

Tks for your suggestions. Anyway I run the Hd Tune and again, there was no error whatsoever.

There are my previous post regarding the weird com\ndition on my Inspirion 6000.

Buying A Dell Laptop

Hi guys,

My friend is thinking about getting a laptop, but he is not sure if he should get it online or via the kiosk at SunTec. And if he get it from the kiosk, will the promotions be the same as the one online? E.g. free 1 GB ram if he get the laptop online

Yes, it's the same.

Sometimes the Kiosk Account Manager can help you save money.

I can't remember first charge will take how long... maybe about 2hrs.
Charged till the battery is full, and continue using AC adapter.

Btw, I heard that not good if you plugged in both battery and AC adapter.
Also try to charge the battery when its energy is completely used up.
Or else will shorten the lifespan of the battery.

Btw, I used 2 GB on Windows Vista; I can still feel a bit laggy sometime.
Maybe cos i turned on Aero... :s8:

anyone has problem with sleep mode with dell laptop 1420?

i.e. after the laptop wakes up from sleep mode, the screen resolution auto-change to a lower one... then have to manually change it back to 1280x800
