Heh. We got 70+ pages. Far more than the # of pages of the sub-forums combined. Might as well remain here and be a constant presence on the first page of this notebook forum :p

I went to south asia computer this afternoon and this salesman told me that acer is oem manufacturer of dell. He said that dell is good for desktop but not laptop. How about any comments from our dell user group here. I just installed an Intel wireless pro mini pci adapter card for my Inspiron 1150. First, I can't figure out why cannot see available network when trying to connect to my router. Well, it have to turn on from our bios. Geez....surfing without any more wireless network card instead built in with the mini pci card. That save the problem of carrying the network card in future. So far I find my Inspiron 1150 works perfectly without any complain. I need more feedback from dell Inspiron 6000 user before committing my centrino next upgrade.

Update your wireless router firmware. It is some issues on Intel's Centrino and some older versions router

Heh. Shoot for 100. Maybe it can coincide with 100 ppl on this list. Cool.

Anyway, I'm regretting that I didn't get a DVD-burner. My work requires I do some burning of videos and I don't like lugging an extra drive around. I checked the Dell site but they don't offer stand-alone drives for the Inspiron series. Any ideas?

Sob-sob...

I already have an external HDD... guess I'll have to live with it. My videos average about 2GB each. Got to find some way then. Maybe film for shorter periods at a time and compress them... whatever.

Thanks for helping :)

For Dell Inspiron 6000 users. Do you remove your battery when using ac adaptor. AFAIK, constant charging the battery will reduce the lifespan. As I know that the battery is located below and when removed it seems that the laptop is not balanced. What I mean is there are four pads or stoppers on all sides as one of the pads is just seated on the battery. Normally I will remove my battery for 1150 as it is located on the end of my laptop not below but just like the optical drive layout. I just pull it out a bit and it will not charge my battery. I just wondered will it look funny with the I6000 battery removed. Any comments and thanks.

Heh, thanks for the compliment.

I have a wish list though, with regards to Dell laptops.

I hope their next thin-and-light comes with dedicated graphics, and with sturdier construction. I feel the 700m is perfect except for these. I can still bear with the lack of dedicated graphics (since I don't do intensive 3D gaming... WC3:TFT and BG2 run perfectly fine) but the casing, the silvery part, does get scratched or dented very easily. It doesn't look like it's going to survive a fall. The lack of dedicated Page Up/Down buttons is also quite irritating.

I just thought of the specs for the BENQ Joybook S72... heh. Something similar from Dell would be perfect. China offers it at about SGD2200, but I'm already too enamoured with my 700m to consider it. Two years later perhaps.

Any other wish lists out there for future Dell laptops?

yes i agree with windchijmes, they should have sctrach resistance skin for WHOLE cover

since all DELL laptops are customisable, they can make it an option in the website when u purchase, my 9300 is very vulnerable to scratches... as all DELL i guess.

oh ya... maybe dell can make sleeves also =) not every one want to carry heavy bag. :)
