I just did a quick check. Ard $215-258 for 40-60gb. Too expensive for my blood
Hmm... if its $215 then its a good buy... $285 a little overkill... :(

Greetings! Shion here. Just received my new Dell Inspiron 6000.

1. Pentium M 735 - 1.6ghz
2. 1 x 512MB Ram
3. 128MB ATI Radeon Mobility X300
4. Ultrasharp 15.4" WXGA 1280 x 800 (So called Ultrasharp but don't look like it...???)
5. CD-RW/DVD
6. Intel Pro Wireless Card
7. Bluetooth

This is my 3rd notebook.

1st - Acer Travelmate 529TX (SUX!!!)
2nd - Dell Inspiron 8200 (Ultrasharp 1600 x 1200/P4M-2.0ghz/64MB Geforce4 MX/384MB Ram - ROCKS TO THE CORE!!!)

I couldn't understand a lot people around me are against Dell. Personally, I feel Dell is competitive and comparable to other branded notebooks, prices are also reasonable.

By the way, as for the current new notebook, I am not very impressed by the Ultrasharp. Dell uses Samsung LCD for Inspiron. The quotation given by my sales agent stated clearly Ultrasharp but what was advised later on by another sales person verbally was that WXGA doesn't have Ultrasharp. Can somebody enlighten me, please?

Anyways, I am proud to be a Dell Inspiron owner! Kudos!

I was coming from the point where short battery life in lithium-ion batteries are mainly caused by heat. It could very well be just the drive taking more power. But I would not ignore the extra heat generated by a faster drive ;)
well, do you know that the components using the most energy are the lcd and the optical drive. :)
Been a laptop user for years and used over 10 laptops so I have found this to be very true :p

Yup, the LCD and the optical drive used the most power, especially DVD-burner drives with dual layer writing. Never try to burn dual layer DVD on the go... you realise at the end of your burning, you full batt goes down to 10%... :(

Dell US and Dell SG

Any of you Dell fan have noticed you can get fantastic deals online from US Dell website compared to the SG Dell website???

I just put together a mean 9300 inspiron for about $2000US but with rebates of about $750, the price was only $1250 excluding delivery.

Thats about $2100 Sing dollars.

Try that same mod on the Sing Dell website and the cost is about $3500

Eh????

Wouldn't it then be cheaper to buy from overseas and get it freighted to Singapore??

Any comments?
