See bei good offer. Placed a order , added 3 yrs cc warranty, and xp pro. 2020++. Cant wait to receive my dell

Noticed that this 640m comes with an Intel GMA 900 (up to 128MB shared mem) instead of the Intel GMA 950 (up to 224MB shared mem) which I saw for the same model before this PC Show deal appear. Did they changed the default specs of the 640m? :s11:

It's available now... the XPS M1210

12.1" Truelife screen, Core Duo 1.66GHz, GeForce Go 7400 (optional, add $51.45), built-in webcam

$1999
PC Show offer: upgrade to 1GB memory, 80GB HDD, free delivery.
(The upgrade to 9 cell battery costs $51, a bit exp though, compared to the usual $30+)

So tempting... must go and check out the look (based on the photo, looks like different design from usual).

Went down to look at the M1210. Looks a lot better than the usual models. Cover is black, the kb is silver, bottom is black, front multimedia buttons are nicer too. But somehow I think it is thicker than the 700m/710m (maybe an illusion, have to check the official specs). Still not sure if it's worth upgrading (I have the 700m).

Just saw the XPS 1210 at PC Show. Very Nice.

Need your opinion here... The basic price is good. But if I add 3 yr warrthy , BT, 9 cell batt etc ( to match Acer's specs) , the pricing will be abt the same right?

The free upgrade to 1gb ram plus free delivery attractive? Or should i wait till the Sep show...Will pricing drop by then? Thanks

Wah, i just checked dell website. After customisation, price not so cheap leh.

Yes correct. Dell always advertised with basic model. After adding transport charges and additional. It is usually not cheap. Plus, you loss the choice to have a quick after sales service in the event of machine problem!

Usually my advice is to stay away if you are not a coporate user.

To me, the things to add to the basic config:
- GeForece Go 7400 and 9 cell battery (they make it mandatory to upgrade the battery if you want the graphics card), $51 + $51 (you must be crazy not to upgrade the graphics)
- DVD burner (it only comes with DVD reader combo drive), $51
- Bluetooth, $24 (not really necessary, but cheap cheap anyway)

The 3yr service is $284. Really depends on you. I personally don't care so much.

It comes with 60GB HDD, if you want bigger one, it's easy to just get one from SLS, swap out the 60GB and use it as external HDD. (I made a mistake in my earlier post. Apparently they are not offering 80GB upgrade free for this model.)

Usually Dell charges $70+ for delivery (even though their delivery service sucks big time), so getting it free is significant.

There's also free $50 Robinson voucher if you buy at PC show (while stock lasts, not applicable if ordering online).

You do the maths :)

Thanks for the comment. The default is 1.66 ghz. I am of the opinion of upgrading to a 2ghz one. I think that way, i will prolong the life of the notebook, i.e. not become obsolete so fast since later models will come out with 2 ghz speed.

On that note, Is there a significant increase in speed if i upgrade to 2ghz from 1.66? since ram is already 1gb.

I really need some help in helping me reach decision. Thanks so much.

I've tried customising, adding the graphic card, winxp pro, full warranty etc, sum is ard $2500.

Btw XPS 1210 is really thick for a 12" :s31:
