Extended is the 9 cell battery.
It will stick out of the notebook a bit,

The 6 cell is the normal battery which will fit just nice to the notebook.

Weight wise ok for me..
The cell are made in japan

So the 2kg they quoted is with or without battery? and if we add a 6 or 9 watt batt.. What will the weight be?

The promotion changes very frequently. Sometimes free ram upgrade, sometimes free dvd-writer, sometimes free hdd upgrade, sometime free delivery, sometimes free graphics upgrade ... and combinations of those. So even if you pick the exact config as another person, the price may be different every week

To me, free ram upgrade to 1GB - not too attractive, cos they use 2 pieces of ram, I would rather go SLS buy 1 more piece of 1GB (then I can have 1.5GB, and can get another piece later to get to 2GB). Free HDD upgrade to 80GB - not attractive either, I would rather go SLS buy a bigger HDD (80 or 100GB) and use the original 60GB as external HDD. (But this one seem to be SATA, so might be harder to find external casing.) Free DVD writer upgrade - worth it, cos it's probably not easy to buy your own drive outside that fits perfectly, and you can't recycle the original drive easily. Free deliver - that's a $70 saving, you can't get replacement for that at SLS

Wanna ask.. If u changed the hard disk by urself.. Will the warranty be void? Cos for branded desktops.. If u open the case by urself.. The warranty will be void.. Plus hmm.. The windows is hidden in the partition of the hdd rite? If u change the hdd.. The original windows will be gone? + all its software?
If u change the harddisk at dell.. Will they retain the windows partition?

Hi all,

I am eyeing Dell Latitude D620 for my business needs. I choose Dell because it's cheaper (compare to others brand with the same specification). Inspiron series looks too plastic for me.

Is there any comment on Latitute series?

Thanks for all the help ppl... Just bought the Dell 6400 today... free 1 GB Ram upgrade, then paid $68 for the DVD+/- RW burner. But lucky use UOB credit card to pay can get $50 discount so its like paying $18 more from the published price loh... =) gotta wait for 5-7 days for the delivery... cant wait to get it.

I don't think warranty will be void (but don't quote me on that ). Upgrading components like HDD and RAM is common. These items are accessible by just removing a couple of screws. It's not like you have to open up the whole laptop, take out the keyboard and access the inner components.

For me, I usually reinstall everything. I don't use the original preloaded contents. But if I really want to keep the original contents, can always use some tools (like Ghost) to copy it to a bigger HDD.

Ghost? u can ghost the hidden partition in ur laptop's original hdd and copy it to a bigger hard disk?

No worries, Dell gives you a whole bunch of CDs. They don't give recovery CD (ie. a CD that contains original HDD image), but they give actual Windows installation CD. And other drivers, applications, utilities etc.

You are not going to lose any CD key, cos your Windows license sticker is pasted on the laptop itself. (Come to think of it, I don't think I even need to type in any long-winded number when installing the Windows.)

i choose 1 year complete cover only. lucky or not, it depends. but spending a bit more to cover the risk, you guage yourself. 3 years later, maybe it's time to upgrade again.

m640 is heavy, i got no choice but to exchange it for m1210. spend 100+ more for the admin. haiZ! if only i decide properly earlier.
