do u experience serious lag when typing email in Outlook 2007? i experiencing this issue on my 640m... am thinking to call and complain... cos i was using a T2300 1.73 with XP Home and no issues....

outlook super slow response... esp writing new email then after u type the screen has yet to show the words that u typed in....

i'm thinking of getting a dell for uni as well. i'm studying interior design and uses softwares like archicad, autocad and 3d max

any recommendations?

i'm studying in aus...will most prob come back to sg in june/july to get the laptop

6400 i guess.
It have dedicated graphics.
But its 15.4" LCD Screen.
A turnoff for anyone having portability in mind.
Unless you get 640m with 2GB DDR2 RAM, then shouldt be any problem running the graphic intensive rendering softwares like 3D MAX.

i want portability so that i can bring it to aus and back to sg

and it's not that bad cos i'll be using it at home and not lugging it to uni

just that the labs at uni are often used for classes and only available at nite...if not i can do my assignments at uni (just that i have no transport home after midnite here in aus)

Lugging that 9400 in a backpack is back breaking... Before my present XPS M1210 I'm using the 9300, kills my back within 30mins... Back breaking experience..

i just want the 'portability' of a laptop rather than a desktop so that i can bring it on the plane from sg to aus vice versa

I know you posted that you are not lugging it around, I'm just sharing my experience of the back breaking 9300 weight...

Yea, the 9400 is nice, exact same chassis and design as the 9300, the screen is nice and big, mine comes with the Ultra Sharp LCD, 1920x1200 resolution, things do get rather small often at times, but for the size, resolution, its awesome.

But after using the 9300 for a year, couldn't take it anymore, I need something light weight yet powerful enough for me to game at times.

End up with the XPS M1210, fell in love with it, the size, performance, just balanced everything off.

The computer has two memory module connectors labeled "DIMM A" and "DIMM B." Connector
DIMM A (located under the keyboard) holds the basic memory module as configured from the factory.

If you did not order additional memory, connector DIMM B (located on the bottom of the computer under the memory module cover) will be empty.

Generally, if you are adding memory, you will install a memory module in connector DIMM B. If you are upgrading memory, you may need to install memory in both the DIMM A and B connectors, depending on the extent of the upgrade.

I have tried to install the RAM in both DIMMA and DIMMB. Putting the RAM in DIMM B is quite simple but DIMM A is really hard... as it require to unscrew the front cover latch and disconnect the keyboard. before you can install the RAM

If you need to install in DIMM A, just be more careful as the front hatch might be pretty tight(experienced that last Saturday).. Also be careful with the keypad as the keypad might drop out if u are careless when handling the keyboard

Quick question. For the M1210, is there a FN-hotkey or hardware switch to turn off just the Bluetooth device only?

On the DELL 6400 you enable/disable it from the System Tray

The Fn+F2 should turn the Wireless and Bluetooth ON/OFF.

Some M1210 user may wish to confirm.

if ur FN + F2 dun work, it mean that u have shut down the DELL Quickset program...

If u wan to use FN + F2, make sure DELL Quickset program is running... u can set in the DELL Quickset to control onli Bluetooth, Wifi or Both... Hope my help is able to help u...

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't got Quickset switched off actually; it's in the background.

When I bring up Quickset though, apparently FN-F2 has not been assigned. What's assigned is FN-F3 (for battery meter) and FN-F8 for display configurations, and brightness controls.

Damn weird. Is there an option to assign keys?
