yippie! got my first lappie.... Inspiron 1420.... first time using Vista, still not use to it.....

is there anything I need to check on my lappie? The delivery very late, almost 10pm.
Actually should I check before signing? I didn't check at all, just sign only....

For inspiron 1420, how do I turn on bluetooth without turning on the WIFI? I only know how to turn off bluetooth and leaving WIFI "on".

To turn off only the Bluetooth wireless technology functionality, right-click the icon in the notification area, and then click Disable Bluetooth Radio.

To quickly enable or disable all wireless devices, use the wireless switch.

i just received my vostro yesterday.. my kid added a hdd lock and forgotten the password.. would i need to pay dell for reseting it?

Give Technical Support a call; telephone number on your Tax Invoice.

Have Service Tag ready (it's under your notebook).

I don't think they'll charge you.

Check ur device manager... look under your network adapter is it "...AGN".

It;s the other way round, I need to use bluetooth all the time with my mouse, but I don't need WIFI cos using USB modem..... thus I can't locate anything in the system tray to disable the WIFI card.....

Aiya... another problem... sigh...

upon awake from "sleep", the laptop can't detect my HuaWei USB modem.... I need to umplug and plug again for the modem to be re-detect...... then also the system tray does not have "remove USB device" icon for removing the HuaWei modem, other USB device like thumdrive and mp3, does have the icon

Does Vista have "hibernate " like in XP instead of "sleep".... I wonder if they r the same function but different term..... but I notice that while in "sleep" mode, the laptop is still like power up cos the HDD like flashing... but "hibernate" totally put the PC off....

I have not... but I thought can do it in OS, so that is suddenly need WIFI I don't need to shut down, and reconfigure the BIOS loh..... but if no other way, I have turn off in BIOS loh.... cos it's draining the batt...... thanks

hmmm... but it seems that in "sleep" mode my laptop batt is still draining off cos the LED still flashing... I'm not sure...
