hi all, im tempted by vostro 1400 also. i got a question, anyone try upgrading RAM themselves? I checked in HWZ the same 1GB RAM is abt or less than 60 bucks, to upgrade direct from Dell is 180, which is a huge difference!

Courts Dell Promotion At Jurong Point

Hi All,

I saw the 1420 at courts today, and they selling for 2099 with the following specs:
T7500 CPU, Vista Home Premium, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, Truelife display, GeForce 8400M GS, 6 cell battery, I yr limited warranty. Also free MS Office OEM, Digota Bag and something else which I forgot.

Then I tried configuration online and get 2448 with the ONLY following difference from above:
CPU 7300 (cannot find 7500), 3GB RAM.

I also saw the X1330 selling at 2399 (but cannot remember specs) and is only available in black.

Courts told me that it is pay money and carry from their store....so is it really better to buy from courts then? Or is there something I did not ask?

Hmm i currently using 1420 as just brought it recently. It is quite light and easy to carry around if u plannin to bring it outside. As for the buttons for the multi media, i seldom use it but the quality seem to be quite gd. :)

question for 1520/1420/1400/1500 laptops owners. What is the weight of ur laptops? i'm thinking of the 1520 with 8600m GT, but it seems very heavy at 3kg! I also went to courts to test the weight of the 1520 and sure its heavy compared to the 1420. So i'm not sure if its worth paying more for the better gfx card. 1420/1400 can't be configured with the 8600GT.

And another question, how do your find the LCD screen? i read some reviews at notebookreview.com and comments are that the screen is not as good as the other brands like HP. So i guess its cheaper because of lower quality LCD screens?

Hmm me just brought 1420 n happily using it. To me, it is quite light compared to 1520 and screenwise nt much different for me.

Btw it depend on whether do u intend to bring ur lappy out often, if u are den mayb u can get 1420 but if nt, den mayb u can choose 1520.

As for graphic card wise, hmm do u play high end games like those latest pc games which if u are den u can choose 8600.

I'm currently playing World In Conflict on my 9600pro and P4 1.6ghz single core. everything low can play quite smooth haha. But well this gfx card has served me well for abt 3 yrs so well I would want a better card now and esp if its a laptop, since laptop gfx card can't be upgraded.
I intend to play Call of duty 4 and the Pro evolution soccer 2008 series, and fm2008 too.
and of course WIC would definitely look and play better on a 8600GT than a 8400GS.

So i'm now torn between deciding whether to sacrifice portability for performance. the best 14inch i seen is a nec versa with 8600GS series but its $2400..ex imo...

probably have to go down and see the vostro/insipiron 15 inch one more time and see if i can tahan the weight haha...
