that's odd...the salesman who attended to me when i was at the courts megastore said i could extend the warranty even after purchase, but he did not mention the warranty has to be purchased within 30 days from the delivery of the laptop, which was stated under the terms and conditions of the courts warranty contract. but when i read the terms and conditions the 30 days from purchase is already over so can i do anything about it?

my alternative would be extension of warranty through dell but their site does not show the XPS notebooks for the warranty extension page.

I believe the 30 days of purchase condition is the one set by Courts and not by Dell.

I've bought a Dell notebook last year and about a month before the warranty expired, I received an email to extend the warranty. I believe that applies to all Dell computers. However at times, they may run discounts for warranty when you extend them at the time of purchase.

IMO, get it, xiao_dingdang. The big difference from Dell's warranty as compared to Courts' is that the accidental damage cover is not as comprehensive. I haven't heard of 30 days policy by Courts. So far, it's only 7-day 1-to-1 exchange or return policy for any manufacturing defect. Extended warranty can't be taken up later for Courts. Dell can be anytime.

i tried, after a few frustrating hours, gave up. Installed ultimate, and will probably do a dual boot into xp for work requirements.

I couldnt get my audio drivers to work, and some issues with video drivers where display will not resume after standby.

anwyay here are the links.

No need to put in the Vista CD. Just go Control Panel then click Classic View. Go to Regional and Language Settings. Choose Chinese (PRC), press Apply. Then at the right of your taskbar, there will be a choice of EN and CH. Open up Notepad, change to CH, then can type in hanyu pinyin already.
