If the terms & conditions specify what they cover as warranty & what they dun, we customers would have to follow. From ur description, it does seem like user-induced to me unless the port was spoilt on arrival.

Yes, then may I ask what does the warranty cover then? So by my understanding of your sentence, there shouldnt be any issues right from the start we buy the set? For if there is any issues right from the start, the fault lies with the end consumers? Then why the warranty? Or just a marketing gimmick?

Though not sure what you were agitated then, but your behavior was quite uncalled for especially when u were raising your voice & sprouting strong words every now & then....From the 15mins I stood waiting, the 3 CSOs behind the table were still responding to u in a nice tone.

I have to agree that I was frustrated, and vented it on them. To that, I will apologize to them if ever I am there again for some reasons. I already had the intentions of doing that before your post anyway. It is definitely uncalled for. Strong words, but I did not use any vulgarities, no insults, nothing personal against CSO, but all against Dell.

But imagine a consumer goes to Starhub Service Centre in the morning and was redirected to Funan IT mall and subsequently, they tell me that I have to pay for $125. Okay fine, paying for $125. I wanted them to feedback to management why there are so many issues with the port as per Bruce. But Bruce's reply was, instead of telling me that he will continue to do so despite previous attempts, he told me that management has already knew it and this is the policy. Right, that was not tactical on his part to calm me, a crazy guy who took his time to travel to starhub and then to dell funan and get that..

Perhaps it doesnt justify come to think of it. But, will you pay $125 for a port?

It's quite amusing though to hear u citing the examples of Samsung, SE etc to the CSOs, when they were just...well CSOs....

Yes, I quoted the example of Sony Ericsson SE K750, because I had similar problems and were therefore have a tendency to compare the differing treatments, coming from the same problem. I dont see anything amusing.

Just to be fair, I was the customer waiting behind u yesterday - to repair my Streak as well.

What happened to your Streak? What was been done? Perhaps let the Streak users know and preempt possible problems and prevent it.

PS: please do not take it too personal. nothing against any user. these posts were intended to notify Dell users of my experience of a spoilt port, and eventually how Dell refuse to repair it stating I violating the warranty conditions.

PS 2: damn, I made a mockery of myself. I really should watch it. :o

1 to 1 exchange dropped to 125?

Good call :D

Before the CSO experience any more crazy guys after me, I will like to clarify that, as of 19th May 2011, a faulty port will set you back $125 for a one-to-one exchange.

This does not apply to any screen cracks, etc.

actually I bought an external battery charger over here and it arrived just yesterday, 1 day after my streak refused to charge.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/usb-ac...ttery-eu-adapter-for-dell-mini-5-streak-57931

I am still able to use my Streak, by charging the battery via the external charger. In fact, it might be better for Streak users to get hold of that, now that the port is quite a problem you might face in the near future.

But a faulty port will decrease the resale value should I wish to sell it in future. Still, it needs to be repaired. Either via Dell, or via mobile phone shops..

After all these ruckus I created, Dell Streak is still no doubt a very good phone. If only these problems dont exist..

siao ar, root means confirm violate warranty, then in the end i really self pwn :s22:

although i have to admit chances of claiming warranty for spoilt port are low la.. but if i root it, then later cannot reverse, means chances of claiming warranty is literally ZERO riao.. :s22:

i wait first.. cause if really they dont want honor (which is very likely), then no point riao.. The Dell CSO department is for show nia riao..

Anyway, what are the advantages of root? I rooted my SGS and it was faster. Will a rooted Dell has faster speed ?? I think the original firmware quite fast riao.. Although can be faster, cause sometimes scrolling the pages between ADW launcher (3d) abit lag..

why then would so many users face the same problem? that is from the manager's mouth, not me.

and this is your first post?

Now is my 2nd post. I just got myself a streak few weeks back, so i joined here to see about how the comment. Last time i had a iphone 3gs and my port was damaged, even apple's care manager said i need to pay if i want a replacement and also alot of user face the same problem. Why wouldn't streak have the same problem whereas they have the same kind of port as iphone?

:) Mine was looping at the Dell logo starting screen and can't boot into the Stage UI. CSO was quite nice. Replaced my set with another, just to realised that the new set has a faulty depressed on switch. So they replaced yet another set for me :)

From these, can see that there's quite a bit of quality control issues with the earlier batches, but if you can bear with that, the Streak is still quite a nice gadget to have with u.

Unbreakable glass screen.

Went to Parkway Parade Starhub...Approach the sales girl in charge of Dell Streak...
Told her that I read forum that the Dell screen can be crack or break..and how does Dell replace the user...
Bluntly told by the salesgirl that the screen can never break due to its Gorrila technology screen...
Was about to ask more when it is already closing time...hmmm..
