I had a platoon mate who went into DB for ten days. According to him, he had to backpack sandbags the entire day except when he was sleeping or in toilet. He also got his head shaved.

But the positive thing is that he became so fit after he was released, and scored a perfect score in IPPT (old system), clocking before 9.30 minutes for his 2.4km run.

For new detainess (we don't call them prisoners) every morning carry 20kg sandbag run few rounds around the court. Inside the cell facing 4 walls the whole day. Got maybe 2-4 cellmates to chit chat. If he want to play prank with the MP, he will be thrown into the padded cell. A cell with padded walls (to prevent committing suicide) and a metal door (instead of cell door) and he will be alone inside , not knowing the time and date and month. Cannot see sun nor moon. So you better advise him to behave himself inside.

P/S: yes he will come out fitter

U do realize not everybody knows the difference of Changi and DB or been to Changi right? There's no need to be hostile. I'm not a detainee.

And besides the fact of my son being stupid and trying cannabis, he is fine and will not disrespect his fellow soldier. Thank you. Do keep in mind, MP or Detainee or whatever rank, they are all in still in the army together. Don't let power get in your head please. Thank you for your insight.

I belong to those guai lan MP who will do anything to the detainee who misbehave. There is an angel and devil system in order to maintain control .... one will act as the devil (where all the detainess will fear) the other will act as angel who will sweettalk the detainnees.

But then that was long ago. Now I think the army (including MP) are more …… friendly.... or is it more civilised … I don't know the word. So as long as he behaves, you don't have to worry.

But as far as I know, counselling is useless. What matter most is when he is release, keep him away from his druggie friends and spend more time with him. Understand why he took drugs.

then is not useless, it just mean counselling is not the magic pill, there must be other support provided in addition to counselling.

'Standbag' and other activities are for Combat fit servicemen while Non-combat fit servicemen will only have the 'face the wall' treatment.

For 'face the wall' treatment, it is really nothing of a punishment.
