I was wondering if TS is suggesting that foreign workers make a good living while collecting cans and bottles.
What if the foreign workers make $3000 a month and $36000 side income in a year .
Is IRAS going to collect Income tax from it ?
If the foreign workers collect collectively and collect at least $1 million.
Is IRAS going to collect GSt as well .
After all, the 0.10 was collected from us beforehand.
I am quite sure TS was wondering the Loss of taxes for our country.

Just read an article about a foreign worker that was electrocuted to death while working.
They had a tough time in Singapore while working.
0.10 cents here and there does not make any difference to us .
Just give chances to them .
Try to give $2 to the rubbish workers in your area because they got much more waste from people ordering from e-commerce , boxes, plastic bubble …..

If foreigners earn so much from collecting bottles, TS can also do . Why need to create the thread?

I saw a 30-40s Chinese guy peeping into dustbin when I walked past him and he quickly changed his composure pretending doing something else.

Not just foreigners, young and old also go dig the dustbin for extra cash.
You have to hope you don't get sick digging trash can.
I even see a a more power auntie go one building top level to basement.
Dig every dustbin including the big one at basement.

BCRS sourced income is not taxable as it is considered a deposit refund - even if the collector is not the one who placed the deposit.

It is cost neutral to the government since taxes (gst) was already paid on the item
