KNN 6 months was the deadline NEA gave to all business and retailers.
Since yesterday I notice Tian Ma shop in my area the beverage stock is empty.
Drinks like coke is no more so I wonder other outlets is it the same?

That is one issue and another issue is that since NEA mandate by law retailers have to sell drinks with BCRS.
No more cheap drinks, why I used to buy at Tian Ma is because 6 cans of soft drink is around $3+.
Now with BCRS these 6 cans need to add 60 cents so now more than $4k.

Come NEA I clap for you.

Like some mention SG BCRS is to curb imports from Malaysia where majority of products and goods
come from.
This scholar at NEA come see me now, I give you your appraisal for 2026.
Drink plain water?

Used to buy milk in 2L plastic containers. Now switched to paper carton milk because I don’t agree with the BCRS operating principle.

Remember we invented plastic to save the trees? Because go green? So now the SG green movement will result in killing more trees again, well done.

Is these a prelude to future all plastic stuff? Since all POS system are in place.

Another layer of tax?

Reminds me of ERP initial purposes....from controlling jams to controlling parking, usage, soon mileage.

Shampoo, shower gel, detergent, food packaging etc.

Tabao food containers in future also add 10¢?

Huat ah!!!

I wonder is the government running out of cashflow. Why tax here increase here?
Who don't want more money. A reason why those above can say what's wrong with making more money perhaps. To justify their need for more money of sort. Other places not sure. But local almost every year have surplus. Where all the extra money come from. From the (for lack of better words) excessive taxing of people in many ways lor.

If not wrong, all along for a running nation, tax is one of the main source of revenue. Especially more so for local perhaps, which have almost no natural resources to talk about. Thus, the bulk of its main revenue then likely is fall on the taxes. Therefore, all the more important to grow the population and tax the people more in many ways.

But have to give it to incumbent lah. To be able to run local like a profitable company and have surplus profits almost yearly with a growing fat paycheck for themselves. But this kind usually much of the stress is on the people financially lor. From the excessive taxing everywhere. A reason why local escalating cost of living perhaps. No one is spared.

All it matter then is the balance incumbent can maintain. Maximise the taxing as much as possible. Yet still able to keep the people anger in check without the people blowing it. But it risky lor. If it tip over, then local will see a major change in the ruling when the people cannot take all the squeezing anymore. But then again, even if it happen they also no lugi. As they already gain upfront with the fat paycheck. No need worry people 'check the account after autumn'. :s22:

Doing for drinks is a bit wayang.

Suggest to apply to all plastic containers from shampoo to detergents and cooking oil so that Valu$ shelves can empty out.

Think more practical to just get a big insulated stainless steel water bottle for regular use. Put cold water and ice in it to carry around drink. Can have fresh cold water all day. Its very shiok one. Especially on hot days when the super cold water touch the lip and flow down the throat. Especially after hard physical work with a great thirst. :s22:

Only singaporeans are daft enough to not see to ring fence against cheap parallel imports with this scheme. Instead all they do is complain about how inconvenient it is to get the 10 cents back

Investment is investment. But the profits are not guarantee. What is guaranteed is the income or rather revenue from regular taxing.

It like working people getting salary (that is taxes) and hoping for a fat bonus (returns from the investment part) end of the year. Think its more easy to depend on the regular tax revenue. Better with a high income.

And what local have done is to tax so much that there always seems to be surplus (bonus) of sort. Thus the investement returns then is extra bonus liao. A reason why think constantly come out with many ways to tax people more through various schemes. To maintain the revenue streams growing.

Thus think local no lack of cash, if not think won't have alot of surplus almost every year and a huge reserve. What local lack is how to maintain that revenue growth even more. Investment returns is more risky. But tax is not. Its very stable regular income. And with the way local managing it. Increasingly also. :s22:

Think that's the genius of incumbent doings bah. Always able to tax the people gao-lat gao-lat, and yet still look like its do good for the people, for the greater good of people, people cannot say no. And then divert attention to the pain point created to gloss over the greater (for lack of better words) ills behind.

Its a great move. Although not uncommon with incumbent many doings. Local need to maintain the (think increasingly) open arm image to appear attractive to outsiders. Thus cannot directly prevent such parallel imports from doing business locally.

But local can slowly implement regulations (for so called greater good) to make it more costly for everyone do do business. Which indirectly tend will impact these cheaper imports more, as they are more sensitive to the price differences, thus any increase is a much greater loss to them. And at the same time local get extra earnings from it with the taxing. Kill two birds with one stone perhaps. :s22:
